Griffin nice game, one point and you won! Should have never banner my point worth card Or better I realised too late I banned from the one cards the wrong one in the second last round .... I kind of felt I would have paid dearly leaving you six point like that!
i win 2/3 of all my matches but in this game i was owned. my opponent sometimes had 20 cards in play, got nearly all mechana constructs and also played the card that lets you do another turn. this is also the highest score i've seen so far.
... and here come the high-score screenshots! (Speaking of which: I'd love for scores and statistics to be part of an update for Ascension. If Ticket to Ride can track my top 50 scores, surely Ascension could at least keep a top-10 list, amIrite?)
That would be cool but text or voice chat should be their number 1 priority IMO. Feels so empty not being able to say good game or whatnot.
Congrats on beating me 3 times in a row. I don't believe anybody has managed that before. Twice maybe, but never 3 times. That said, I lost the last game because of a mistake on the last turn. You're a great player. Should consider joining our next tournament!
This game has an extremely high luck factor, but damnit if it isn't fun despite (or because of) it. That being said had a really fun couple of games the last day or two with aaronius and kitkeat who I'm sure would have beaten me had they got the draws I did. Gg you two.
I can't agree with "extremely high." Especially in two-player, I'm seeing that better card management leads to wins more often than not.
I agree. It is possible to reduce the luck factor by managing your deck correctly, by looking at the cards you have and have already used. Look at you discard pile. Look at the table. This game has basically one or two strategies but huge tactical content. If your games are mostly ruled by luck ....then you have not yet grasped the game fully.
How many times do those cards that allow you to manage your deck get sucked up before you even have a chance? Skill levels being the same, the first couple of turns can put someone in a hole right off the bat, and it can be hard to come back from if the other person sucks up the good cards. Sure you can make do and change your strategy, but it's usually a uphill battle, and if they are at your skill level it is usually a losing proposition. Other times the cards seem to fall favorably on both parties and it can be a knock out drag out fight with the outcome unknown to the end, and that is fun as hell (and that is where you really see who has better card management). Like two games ago I beat someone from this board by 115 to 55, I really got off to a good start and could deny him the whole game, he had no chance after the 2nd or third turn. There was just no way possible for him to win. At that point it didn't matter how good he was, he was screwed. I am not saying I am the best player in the world, just saying luck plays a huge factor in some games (not all of them obviously). And I am sure I know how to play the game, and I understand the intricacies FPE's insult aside.
You're overstating this. There's only three possible results for the first two turns: 5-0, then 3-2; 3-2, then 5-0, or 4-1, then 4-1. That's it. And we all start the game knowing this. Personally, I never make a move, even if I've got a live human waiting, until I've mapped out my first two turns. Even given that, though, I'm not really seeing this "uphill battle" you're talking about. I sometimes feel like I enter the third turn at a slight disadvantage ... and I often come back to win those games. Sometimes by 15 points, honestly.
LOL me either...I was trying to change it to a 3(me, you and Camzy) afterward since I was play you both concurrently, but I'd have to forfeit to do so. My bad. Good game with both of you by the way. 0-1 vs Camzy and 2-1 vs you. Off Topic: Any of you play Carcassonne?
Cards that let you manage or cycle thorough your deck faster have a relatively low cost and are therefore easy to purchase. I have played a few games where I have been able to deny those to someone and a few where I have been denied the same. Have you not had those games where all the initiates, librarians, vixens, shamans, arbiter etc.. seem to be out of your reach early on because they pop up when it is not your turn and are gone before you can get a chance to get them? and you keep drawing 3-2 and are stuck not able to buy anything but infantry and mystics...or worse yet it is a witch or something similar and your sitting on 3-2 and your opponent turns around and draws 5 and grabs it. Anyway, whatever I'll just say I am wrong and luck has nothing to do with it, let that happen 3 turns in a row and you might feel different. I am not degrading the game btw It is by far my favorite game on the appstore.
Can anyone give me tips on which cards to take best? - first few turns.. Take mystic first or u ignore it if u see <name a card here> in center row - if first turn u get 5.. Do you take flying witch or mystic and the +2 attack card (forgot the name)? - or u choose snap dragon? Or u choose 4-5 points of mechana cards? Or u take 1 shaman and 2 of a 1 cost card that give u draw? - i dont really understand some mechana cards functions unless as being high reward point - if u have already a card like snapdragon, do you take it again n put in play? Or 1 in play is already enough (ability stacks or not)? I mostly confused with either take mechana or others like lifebound And what mechana better?
Wow, just won a game by 1 point! upmanyub, if you're on here, good game - very close. My ID is Delerium.
Nice game! I had a gut feeling that I was losing but turned out things are not always what it seemed. I do banish cards with honors some time, too. I always remind myself not to get more than one of that card "drawing 2 cards and must discard one from hand". Note that after a while, it is good to have this card banished with some optional discard cards.
