From page 36 of the thread: There's never a tie in Ascension. In terms of the iOS version, the highlighted player on the scoring screen is the winner.
Thanks for clearing it up everyone(changes strategy on the fly). I guess I'll be looking out for the cards with the honor points on the bottom left of the cards a little more than the ones I accumulated from kills/card specials.
Yep, that's me. I switched up my strategy mid-game now that I'm sort of starting to understand the way the points tally up. A few more runs and I should be good to go!
Played Dominion (the actual card game) for the first time today - it was fun. I can see the similarities with Ascension, but there of course differences too. I think I like the complexity of Ascension more, though it has more randomness too.
And since you mentioned that "magic" word, I can safely assume someone will drop in again and argue it as a demerit. I have a few nice games lately, regardless win or loss, thank you all and please feel free to keep them coming.
Your wish is my command.. Just send you an invite. I agree, when i play this game, whether win or lose, i enjoy all the matches i play against everyone so far.
This is the best card game in iOS so far, I hope to save money in the near future to buy the real card game with its expansion FTW!
heh, yeah, I almost added a caveat "this was not meant as a knock on either game, just a statement of fact."
Aaroniusm- thanks for the match. I made a mistake from too many games in async ... I banished so much I was stuck with only two apprentices and has not bought anything better ... I could only kill monsters and we had none in the game!! So silly of me. Kk - I forfeit because my loss was very clear ... Had tya same but opposite issue of the match above. I mixed things up. Dukester - nice match. I was unsure who would win till the last rounds.
I was just about to say that was a terrible game we just had! Same like you, I don't have enough rune points to acquire anything and the only thing we were both doing is killing cultists throughout the whole game. Haha.. We had alot of attack points yet no monsters appear! I am also having a game in progress with KK now. Hope i will fare better..
hehe... nice game guys.. i forgot who won and who lost... was lost among all the async games i had...
I think the games are complementary because they do play differently. I have only played Dominion once, but I definitely enjoyed it and would love to see that on iOS too (though I worry it might not be a great fit since in the real game you've got many piles of cards with different abilities that you need to be able to see/read - even on an iPad it's not all going to fit). I also like this game a lot and in fact I've got the real game and the expansion coming to me today! Woohoo! With the sleeves, because for some dumb reason they made the expansion have a different card stock from the base game, so you *have* to use sleeves, otherwise the cards are easy to tell apart. Annoying. Still, card sleeves are probably a good idea anyway. It's not like you can just buy a replacement deck for a few bucks. I'm going to try to pair down my quantity of asynch games, because I know I'm going to get burnt out if I don't. I am pretty much burnt out on Carcassonne for that reason (at least in iOS form - I still love playing the physical game, with expansions, and I do play the iOS version some). The good thing is that when I play games with random folks, they almost always play the game live. That gives this game a lot of life for me. I do wish there was a way to mark a game as being live, so people know that's what you want to do. It's not a big problem, though.
Since I am back and stopped fooling around we a somewhat even on who wins and looses. I am 50-50 with almost everybody I am playing the most.
I just bought it! It arrived yesterday. I also ordered the expansion ... which, of course, I hope to see included in the iOS app soon-ish.
You made a great comeback in our game this morning - I jumped into your other invite, but it seems you were off after the first game finished. When I check games I'll almost always stay on to finish them if the opponent is there - I definitely don't have the mental capacity to keep track of what I was doing in each game and end up just winging it when I jump in for a move. Being able to review the deck/log helps a bit, but usually I want to just start playing cards.
Make sure you get the sleeves for it if you're going to use the expansion - the card stock is different so you can tell them apart, unless you use sleeves. There's a sleeve/travel box combo, but note that it only has enough sleeves for the base set (the box has room for both the base set, the expansion and supposedly future expansions). You can either buy 150 (or more) sleeves extra separately, or buy a 2nd combo. I bought two of the combos mainly because coolstuffinc.com didn't have enough separate sleeves for it available, plus this way I end up with more extra sleeves to keep in store for when any split. And the price versus buying just the sleeves wasn't very big (a few dollars or some such difference).
thanks Camzee for the crazy games.... nerve wrecking. u seemed to be playing on top speed compared to your normal games. I usually get to game 1 or 2 before i sleep but lately sometimes i was just too tired after all the work.
O I usually play very fast when I'm online. Turns don't take very long. Play all your draw cards first, leave your "decision" cards until later on. Had some good games. I was actually pretty shocked I won the most recent one when you picked up a Hedron Cannon mid game (that was you right?)
