Why is that sad? It makes for an excellent, well balanced, tactical experience. You can go in with a given strategy, but you might need to adjust your approach on the fly.

We've had this argument before, but the way Ascension is, makes it arguably better in that improvisation is rewarded. I hate games where set strategies dominate.

Even chess. Some people play the same openings all the time, and it gets dull. Play some of these guys at Chess 960 and you'd wipe the floor with them because they can't adapt to new situations.

The need to improvise and adapt to the situation is a big plus for me and is one of the reasons I love this game. Now can we stop arguing this over and over? People who want their games to be otherwise are welcome to not play it.

I like it enough that I really want to get the real version and the expansion. I just bought several games, though, so I'm going to try to hold off for a while. Need to justify it. :)

This game is really the only one of this genre that "clicks" completely with me. I really like the fact that I can't have a set strategy in mind before the game starts. I LIKE to play a particular way, but the cards don't always cooperate. That's a positive in my mind.

    Pro Tip

Hey all, frequent reader, rare poster.

Pro tip - if you're in a multiplayer game, particularly one against an Agitator Academia: TAKE YOUR TURN! For the love of ALL THINGS HOLY, why is my multiplayer game cue near full of WEEKS worth of unfinished 2,3 and 4 player games! Take your turn! Take it! NOW! Stop reading this and Take! Your! Turn!

*phew* OK, I feel better now.

Good game. Looking forward to more.

But I honestly can't help but think "Wow....wouldn't Dominion be awesome on this thing?"

Dominion would be a very welcome addition. If the same app dev worked on that, I'd be quite happy, I think. I do wonder how well it will adapt to the platform, though, as there's a ton more cards on the table in that game. I'm sure a good dev could figure it out, though. I hope they do!

Dominion would be no problem at all on the iPad. It might get a little crowded on the iPhone, but a smart developer could pull it off.

    Sum up:

    1) Cards that let you draw more cards help a lot - the faster you cycle through your deck the faster you get to replay the better cards you've been acquiring.

    2) Cards that optionally let you banish cards are good too - aside from the beginning of the game, you will want to start banishing your +1 cards, as they're worth no points at the end of the game, and you'll be able to play your +2 (and above) cards more often.

    3) Don't speed up the game animation - you will want to have an idea of what your opponent is doing so you can work against them - this is especially true against other people, as they play much more creatively than the AI.

    4) In respect to #3, play against people! It's a lot more fun. Post your GameCenter name here and you'll have plenty of TA members to play against.

    5) Don't hit that "Play All" button unless all you have are basic cards! Order of playing cards can be very important at times to gain benefits and/or take advantage of newly drawn cards.

I would also add: 6) Do not hit that gorram "End Turn" button when it is still red, unless you have a very great reason to do so!

Amend to #2, if you banish card(s) from the Central Row, you can prevent your opponent(s) from gaining -- and cause some serious floor-stomping on the remote side.

I like the game, very diff with other tcg. I love the artwork.

Cant wait for the expansion set. I think what it should add to the game is the information of total honor that u and ur opponent have.
What i see is total honor based on ur current game or cards that are played n from killing monsters.

By knowing total honor, u can think more of which cards should i take etc. Bcause to me, to win the game is to have more points than opponent, so i dont need to get points as much as i can, but higher than my opp is enough.
And with that info, u can go to strategy where u stop ur opponent taking important cards by banishing those cards.

I am not particularly wild about knowing to actual total honour points showing in game cause I love surprises, nor I am totally against it.

I just lost a game for less than 5 points against I-am-sorry-I-have-forgotten-who, and in-game, he/she had 10+ points lead.

I raised this total honor or total score issue back at the start. I was enlightened by some members saying that's just how it is and it contributes to the game not really ever knowing until the end.
But still, I can see merit in knowing the honor points because then you can sharply adjust your tactics in game. Perhaps heightening the level of tactics??
Plus if you were that good, you could essentially keep track of the points just by watching what's going on like a hawk.
Points for and against I think.

Same here, I prefer the surprise element of the final honour points after the game ends. Anyway after playing the game for sometimes, you can roughly calculate whether your opponent will have higher or lower honour points than you from the cards they acquire.

I am having a game with Camzy now and I am guessing I will lose by 15-20 honour points.

I was not arguing, I was just answering a question guys!
I love this game, I just cannot play much due to a 6 day boy sitting constantly in my arms.

You lost by 38 :p Good game. Sometimes, it really doesn't matter how well you play, if your opponent lucks out in the beginning there's nothing you can do, even if you play perfectly and they play terribly.

I find this very effective. If there is an excellent card that I can't quite afford, and I have an opportunity to banish something, I'll pick that card to banish. Better to get rid of it than have it land in the opponent's deck.

This game better get New and Noteworthy or Game of the Week. It would be an injustice if that didn't happen.

    Just played an incredible game.

Won 105 - 98 against PeAchiiE. Felt sorry for the guy. He played an insanely good last turn with Master Dhartha, but I went last, so it was enough to inch me across the line.
