Downloaded the update went to buy promo pack 5... But it says I already own it. I go to create game and it's locked. I tried logging in and out of my Apple ID. Anyone else have this issue?
That might be a sale. At least if the most recent expansions are also a buck. Either way, I'd recommend all of them at that price!
Other folks on the Ascension Kickstarter have the same issues. Again another epic fail for StoneBlade when the backers were suppose to get the new IAP for free...
Bought them all! I'm on a rampage!! I didn't expect this game to be so accessible. It's just a bit harder to learn than chess. Usually with these games there's a jello-like wall of understanding that takes me hours to break down (Xenoshyft) but not this one.
I know a lot of you guys probably haven't touched the tutorial in years, but I've only recently picked this up and the tutorial freezes mid way through on a certain section. Happens on both iOS 8.4.1 and 9.0.2. iPhone and iPad. Anyone else have this problem? I already understand the mechanics but want to see if there's any interesting nuances later on.
Any tips on getting the Time Traveller achievement? Take 5 turns in a row while playing with only Chronicle of the Godslayer. Seems impossible. Max I ever got was 2 turns.
Can someone convince me it's worth dropping £6.99 on the expansion bundle for this please? I've played the base game on and off for a couple of years (and love it) but always been hesitant to buy the expansions as I wasn't sure it would keep me playing enough. I like games with a quest/campaign or overriding aim other than just scoring the most. That said, I love the fast paced and often tactical nature of Ascension. Are many people still playing online and does the first 3 expansions and packs make a difference to or increase the depth/longevity of the game?
Do it. The original game is nothing compared to the expansions. They're so much better - the art, the different strategies, the new mechanics. I still play every day, five years later.
Ooh, I'm sorely tempted - it's almost pay day so may have to take the plunge. Really getting in to my deck builder/CCG's having never really played them before - that said, I'm not liking most of the f2p and/or online only stuff. Just feels too geared up for making money.
I have all the expansions plus 30+ online games ongoing. I play it from Day One and still plays it daily. You have my guarantee this game lasts for me. My Playdek ID is "currymutton". See ya online soon.
Nice, thank you. I'll send you a game invite when I'm up and running - I set up a Playdek account a few years ago with Lords of Waterdeep (excellent game!) but didn't use it much and haven't used it online for a long time - my Playdek ID is just my name but I want to change it however I can't seem to find how to do it? I've emailed Playdek so hopefully they can shed some light. I think part of my issue with the longevity is the lack of human interaction - playing against the AI is only gratifying for so long, after that it feels a bit soulless. At the very least, I think I'll stump up for the initial bundle and see how I go from there.
Yeah many of them are, but this is definitely not one. Some other good ones are Star Realms, Cthulhu Realms, Dominion, Shadowverse (seems like a typical f2p game at first, but it's really well done), Penny Arcade, Solforge, Xenoshyft, Hearthstone, and of course the mother of them all, Magic.
Ok, in order: Star Realms - picked up the free base game at launch but haven't played it in ages. Didn't click with me as well as some of the others but again, might be to do with only playing against AI. Cthulhu Realms - picked up at launch and love it loads; But, I'm finding the base deck a bit limited so gameplay can be repetitive and strategies limited. Will definitely purchase any expansions they release though. Dominion & Shadowverse - just downloaded both last night but not played yet. Have my reservations on both due to the IAP's/f2p nature of them and people's comments on TA. That said, I've decided to keep an open mind and will try both when I get a chance. Penny Arcade - Got but haven't played much after the first few months of owning. Again, lack of longevity due to repetitive playing against AI was the reason I stopped playing. But remember that the game itself played very well. Actually reinstalled it last night with my renewed desire to play card/board games again. Solforge - Haven't tried because of poor initial reviews and f2p nature. That said, recent update and article from TA piqued my interest so may give that one a go soon. Xenoshyft - Have played it a few times but it didn't click with me. I can't remember why not though so may need to reinstall to re-evaluate. Hearthstone - played a few games on first release and seem to remember enjoying it but didn't like the f2p elements (I'm a premium game purist at heart, due to an old skool gaming youth I guess!) and didn't have the time or energy to persevere with it. Magic - hmmm, tried one of these a while ago (possibly the 2015 release?). It was ok but again, I was put off by the f2p nature and almost a bit overwhelmed with the sheer scope of the available cards. I've not tried Duals yet though - just looked at it on the App Store, looks interesting and seems to have a single player campaign. I've also got Spectromancer on my iPad - recent purchase - and I'm enjoying that even if the production values are a little 'mid-90's PC game'. Reading back over my own comments, I guess the ones that really appeal to me need some/all of these criteria meeting: - Involved and tactical/strategic gameplay. - A large enough deck that it feels like there's scope to expand and grow but not so many it's overwhelming. - A decent base game (premium preferably) with IAP's for expansion (either challenges, campaign expansion or whole deck expansions a la Ascension); but preferably not f2p or having to buy 'rare' cards just to progress or keep up with other players. - A campaign or sets of challenges to work through to provide longevity Thanks for the suggestions though, I always like finding hidden gems that are overlooked and only come to light when someone posts something like this. Playdek have emailed me so I've submitted my change of account name - will post it here once they confirm its done.
