If they made the expansion cheaper I would buy it especially since the servers are going offline next year...it's so hard not to buy it though.
I would pay for everything all over again, but that's just me. Seeing how this app stuck with me since day 1 I purchased it, as well as summoner wars and penny arcade. Sorry nightfall, not good at it cos colorblind issue rendered it harder to play at put me at an disadvantage..
I'm not really sure about the "servers going down" thing. They have implemented a brand new online system with this update. Now it uses e-mail instead of Game Center. Why would they do that if the servers would be going down? (Or was it like this already? Maybe I'm just confused. But I'm pretty sure it used Game Center before this update.)
Playdek's app will be pulled when the other version arrives next year, but the multiplayer servers won't be going away until the end of 2014, so I don't think they really need to discount the expansion down from $3 to compensate you for the fact that you're "only" going to get another year and a half out of the online component of this particular version of the game.
Playdek's version of Ascension won't exist any more in mid-2014, and will be pulled from the app store entirely when Stone Blade's version of the game arrives. That's why the multiplayer servers for this particular version will be getting shut down, although they'll be kept up until the end of 2014. Playdek are updating all their games to use their new online system (Agricola was the first), including Ascension while it is still around.
Confused: I am not sure but the last "official" word I get is Stone Blade will make arrangements for Playdek version owners in transiting to her new version. I am not sure, nor told that if payment, or how much, would be involved. Until I read something official, I would not speculate what future would be, 1.5 years to go, right?
Are you sure about that? Because apparently this version already belongs to Stone Blade, as it says Stone Blade instead of Gary Games in the splash screen. Maybe they changed plans?
3 dollars is an incredibly fair price to pay for the expansion, seeing how well the game conversion has been handled and how many extra hours of fun it brings to the table. I had no idea this was being released today but am psyched it's finally out. Tried my first game and got a W Hit me up on Gamecenter (KineticBlur) to get some games going later.
No, people have been hanging on to that initial statement, but Gary Weis from Playdek has stated somewhere along the line that it isn't going to be possible to transfer the expansions between the two apps. Stone Blade have had this to say about the transition, actually: Gary Games is now known as Stone Blade Entertainment, and yes, they're making their own separate version of the game to be released in July 2014 (barring any unexpected issues), at which time Playdek's version will be pulled from the app store.
After the update and purchase of IH, online play works on my iPhone 4, but tapping Play Offline crashes the app every time. Ths doesn't happen on my iPad 2. Anyone else have this problem on their iPhone 4?
Your previous save games are causing this. If you delete and reinstall the app, the problem will go away. Thought we had tested this thoroughly, but we must have missed something. Sorry.
That did the trick - thanks! I didn't even remember that I had any saved offline games, so no loss there. I love the update! Question: what is the purpose of the new account system? GameCenter was much simpler. But I love the expansion and once your account is set up it's no big deal.
Just wanted to clarify yeah for sure $3 is worth it and very cheap it's just the fact that I would have to buy everything all over again is what bothers me. I don't know I probably will cave in like I said, Im addicted too much.

Been playing it all day and I'm loving just the fact that it makes me slow down and think instead of just playing on autopilot like I sometimes do. Now I'm just waiting for somebody to drop the "T" word....
