Hey guys, hey, I'll guess no for the round robin, because it asks for a lot of games from each players and we've seen 8 out of the 15 players respond so far. That's cool that Challonge does round robin though! About the Swiss format, it's really cool, I'll try to be brief here. If we have an even number of players, then everybody randomly plays one opponent each in Round 1, or, everybody is matched up against one player in Round 1. After everybody finishes Round 1, those with a 1-0 record will be matched up vs another player with a 1-0 record. Same thing happens to the players who have a 0-1 record. Play round 2 match(s) vs your opponent. Then, for Round 3, those who have a 2-0 record are matched up against each other, those with 1-1 against each other, and those with 0-2 against each orher! With 16 players, you'll have exactly 1 player with a 4-0 record after 4 rounds! With 8 players, only 1 player will have a 3-0 record after 3 rounds~ With 12 players, you just play as many rounds as the organizer says and ppl will have differing records. What do y'all think?
The cool thing about Swiss vs KO is that, in Swiss, those who lose in Round 1 or 2 can continue playing for fun even after you lose, unlike the KO style. Otherwise, Swiss is pretty similar to KO.
Hey guys, here is the list I have so far on who will be playing on the TA side in the March interforum challenge! This has nothing to do with our February tournament btw, which is for shits and giggles. We have 15 but Ananab is pretty set on us having a 12v12 tourney, so 3 of us will have to sit out. I'll volunteer myself to sit out, but I hope to qualify from the Qt3 side as a top 12 finisher for our Feb league! As you all have probably figured out by now, the posts Im doing here is obviously to spy on you guys March 2013 TA-Qt3 Ascension Tournament TA ID/GC ID ironcub14/ironcub14 MLKeener/MLKeener VeganTnT/VeganTnT almostrike/hungarike Emos/Emos Artfoundry/Delerium Camzy/Camzeee qwertjx/qwertjx aoisora/desuki JCman7/JCman7 cprloe/cprloe coconutbowling/coconutbowling putermcgee/putermcgee KiddToKmart/KiranB2 tecwrtr/tecwrtr
hey, I played you before! I have you on GC.. and you played in the world tourney, I think. We have room in the TA February mini tourney, it's at challonge.com/ascension0213. For the interforum tourney, I think we have to cap it sorry, but I'll put u down as a possible sub. Also, if any of you guys are interested in torturing yourself with 40+ league games every month, come check out the Qt3 link I posted~
I'll sit my self out as well. I'd love to enter but now isn't the best time with mega midterms coming up. Good luck everyone!
Swiss sounds good to me - I'll change it unless anyone has any objections. Also, do we want to stick with seeded brackets or signup order? And we don't need a qualifier then for the interforum tourn, right?
For seeding, I thought it was signup order! I'm not sure what the alternative is haha. Hoping that we don't need qualifiers, if we need just one more person to rest. It could be one of the guys that are playing in the Qt3 league as well, if they do well enough in February! Or, come March, we'll see if the original 15 is still interested, hoping they are. I'll maintain a sub list meanwhile. Thanks Artfoundry!
My understanding of the default bracket setting of seeding is it's using a random number generator based on a seed to determine who plays whom. The signup order based bracket instead pairs players based on the order they sign up for the tourn. The main differences are that the first option is "random" and basically prevents the tourn from starting until everyone has signed up whereas the second would allow people to start as soon as they've joined as challonge sets up your opponent as soon as you join (unless you're an odd number). The tourn. is currently set to random/seed bracketing.
Wait, so how is this working? Are we going to have an interforum tourny before hand or just pick and choose 12?
Thanks for that clarification. Once you start a tourney that assigns seeds based on order of registering, can new players still register? We have 10 people for the tourney right now, which is pretty good. With Swiss format, I think a tourney can be played with any number of people as long as it's even. Hoping that people can still register even if the tourney has started; if so, please feel free to start!
We are having the TA vs Qt3 interforum tourney in March! We have 13 people for that and 12 spots! Right now we are just finalizing a little TA intraforum tourney for fun for February!
Normally I would avoid such tourny thing -- ever since the days of Flanker 2.0. Okay, if you need a hand, here it is, I am in.
Heh, no, if we go with signup order, there's no seeding. In any case, it appears that with Swiss tourneys, there's no choice in the bracketing. Not sure what happens if I start - it may be that no one can join after, so I'll wait for the 12th person to join before starting. One thing I'm not sure about is the scoring. If we're doing 3 matches per matchup, do we put down a win for each match or a win for the best out of 3? It seems the settings will allow putting down points for individual games if we choose, but I'm pretty sure it won't affect the final outcome of each round - I think it's just for more detailed scoring (so rather than a person winning say 4 to 3 vs. the runner up, the score could be 4 to 3.5 or something).
