  1. Thanks for the tips guys. Sadly, I am horrible at actually making use of those strategies. Can anyone make a video? :p

    Ok here goes
-stack your units!! Especially right under the mothership. Omgsh this works so well, it makes the opponent have no possible way of targeting anything but your mothership. You'll be able to destroy all of his units before he can do any serious damage to your ship.

-remember that number doesn't always make the difference. And always mix units. If you see your opponent massing mechs. Get 2 tanks!! Their area of effect attack will wound them collectively. This allows you to tear the opponent up with Half the mechs!

-let me reiterate this. Make sure your mechs are mining!!
Sometimes the mines don't register them, so check! And no more than 6 per patch. Be smart.

-remember to group your units together. Don't leave straggler around the map. They die very fast.

-keep tanks in front during battle always, they can take the heat.

Alright next post will prob have some micromanaging tips.

AhhSShhh I hope when people figure out the game, they'll contribute here as well heh :/..

Anyways not on the comp yet but here's some unit management tips

-if you ever get into an out ship battle, like I said before make sure they're stacker on top of each other with the mothership. Do this as soon as it's built. It'll look like all you have is a mothership.

-if you have upgraded mechs with armor and hp bonuses, use some as decoys!! Run them through to the side of your oppoent one or two at a time without stopping to attack. Meanwhile aim your other troops at their mass.

-if you're massing mechs, be sure to spread them!! Tanks will eat them alive 5 per bite if you keep them in a tight group.

-as stated above, aim at the big things first! Not the mothership though of course.

-hit and Run!!! Especially with level 3 ships! Their line of sight is a lot higher than mechs or tanks. Rape their mine and gtfo of there.

    -remember ships can go ANYWHERE

-check your create queue during battle every 10-15 seconds.
If you know you're at the last stand, bring your mechs from all mines to the battle! You don't know what 10-15 mechs can do, especially to a fleeing mothership. Attacking from more than one direction will guarantee you to be able to do some heavy hitting.

-LURE and fire: get the attention of a few enemy units in the front line, pull them towards your hard hitters. Sometimes having even 2 more units can save you 10.

Bbl, hope I'm actually helping you guys out heh.

-perfect your start, get moving as fast as you can away from the first mine after it's filled with 6. I can do this in under 30 seconds. Sometimes I already have another mine at 30 seconds.

-your enemy will most likely be expandidng away from base. Go hit his miners at his initial mine with a tank or 2. Remember his base is directly opposite of yours in 1v1.

-in a 3 or 4 player game, it's best to play defensively. Don't go for mines right in the middle if there are some off to the edges of the map instead. You'll get doubled or even trippled. Especially in the xzone map.

-watch the minimap for different colors!! I find it hard to do this often.

Alright guys so let's try this again, I got to 1200 words earlier and deleted the whole thing by clicking back on the browser..yes that's how much I love this game.

    Prologue
Rts and Rpg's have always been my favorite two genre of games. The idevice has seen a great evolution since the introduction of the appstore: from the painful Strategic Assault to the great Warfare Inc to the demanding red conquest, and now we're here at Armada. Now if you've seen my reviews, you know how long and detailed they are..so it must mean the game is pretty damn good. Or that I'm getting paid a fortune xD, it's not the latter heh.
This rts allows for a combination of the fast, pick and play nature of the idevice with intense strategy that calls for both speed and skill. It allows the usually alienated players who don't want anything too complex to learn to enjoy a great rts. Before I start, let me state that for now, this is strictly online, and reiterate THIS IS STRICTLY ONLINE. Offline play comes with the next update :]. Btw, the devs are amazing xD. Now for my review on it's 4 components: graphics, sound, controls, gameplay. There's a conclusion at the end if you don't have the time to read, along with my rating.

    Graphics
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Like many real time time strategy games, there is a function that allows for zooming with the pinching motion. The thing though is that as you zoom in, the pixels actually get more defined and more details pop up and there's not the slightest trace of blurring..amazing. There's also particle effects for the weapons: from the machine gun fire of the mechs to the particle bombs of the tanks to the laser beams of the ships. The lighting of the games 5 very well designed maps also contribute greatly to its theme, which is obviously space warfare. But seriously, these detailed maps and units really blow warfare inc's and even red conquest's animations out of the water. There are three classes that are virtually the same, the aliens, the cyborgs, and the humans. They're all virtually the same, except that they have different designs, which is really unique to each race.

    Sound
I didn't turn on the sound until like my 15th game since I generally play games without the volume. But when I did, it was pretty darn great. If you've played starcraft before, you'll be familiar to the upbeat BGM that comes with this package. It often scares me since some of the sound effects in the background music sounds like my enemy coming with the armaggedon xD. Also each unit responds with a different sound when selected and ordered to move. Of course each of the weapons sounds are different as well. The BGM and sound effects that come with Armada: GW definitely adds to the atmosphere the game creates.

    Controls
I've always said and thought that the controls of a game, especially for the idevice, make or break the game. And make the game it sure as hell does in this one. It makes robocalypse's action flags seem like a joke, WI's controls seem to be from the stone age, and makes red conquest's complex controls seem like a parody. You select units by holding a button in the top left corner, which brings you into select mode. Then, you can tap individual units as you add them to your select group, or you can make a selection box by dragging. Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?..I have no idea. But trust me, as a veteran of rts, you have my word that this one has the easiest and best to use controls on the idevice. Panning of the screen is of course done by swiping, which can be adjusted for sensitivity. Deselecting units is as simple as tapping the selection mode button quickly. Of course you can also aim you units attacks and all.
But here's the best part! This is what really got me, this was the bane of WI. You get to choose between attack move and force move! You single click anywhere on the map to attack move, meaning your units will engage any enemy they stumble upon. You force move by double tapping anywhere, which allows your units to move and ignore any enemies they encounter, very good for running away or micromanaging (details later).

    Gameplay
Now here's the core of the review, the very, very, very long section.
You begin each game with 2 level 1 mechs and a mother ship. The mechs are the gatherers, the grunts, the cheaply massed unit, the early explorer, etc. The mother ship is your 'base,' the producer of units, and if it's destroyed, you lose. Yes, that's the objective: kill the opponent's mothership.
Like previously stated, there are 3 races, each have 3 levels of mechs, 3 levels of tanks, and 3 levels of ships. There are no building prerequisites or anything like that, it's just they cost more per level, but of course are better than the former level. Mechs own ships, with their rapid attack and easily massed numbers. Tanks have area of effect attacks that make short work of even the biggest groups of mechs. Ships counter tanks since Tanks can't shoot them! And of course there's your mother ship, it's high on hp and atk, but yeah don't let it die heheh.
Everyone starts with a mine by them, you place a grunt on top of it (any level) and they will light up when in place, then you will steadily gain AP (resource) which is kept track of in the upper left corner. Besides the one at the start by you, the rest are randomly generated around each of the 5 maps. Of course it's your job to expand and grab these before you do and prevent your opponent(s) from doing the same. You can fit a max of 9 mechs on each.
Right now you can either use the auto-matching system, like in FAST, or you can host private games. If no one joins within the alotted fifteen seconds of the automatch feature, you will be put up against an AI (Agent Smith) but that should rarely happen anymore, since the community is getting pretty big :]. You can be paired up with a max of 3 other people.
Of course there's an online leaderboard and all. The future update will contain a lobby system which will allow for public hosting, like that in Warfare Incorporated.
So you gather resources, build troops, and go after your opponent's mother ship. Sounds easy? Why don't you try doing it :]? Like all RTS, this one places lots of importance on the micromanagement and positioning of your units, so that should take some training hehe. Offline mode will come soon, like I stated before.

This review wasn't quite as good as my other one that got deleted, but it should suffice. The devs are very active in the threads and will even privately deal with any issues you have. Just shoot them a pm!

    Final Score and Critique
5 OUT OF 5 for: its ability to mix fast paced gameplay of around 5-10 minutes with intense strategy, for its very innotative and intuitional controls (which are crazy simple), its appealing graphics and sound, its promised updates and hardworking dev team, and for its lasting impression of a intense strategy game that anyone can learn in under 30 minutes.

Hope to see you in game soon. Visit the main thread if you have any questions or concerns, and I'll help answer them if the devs aren't there at the time. Also visit the strategy thread once you come up with some crazy stuff on your own or wanna get some tips!

Thanks a ton for reading, really hope this game will get reviewed by TA on the frontpage.

Always keep an eye on actually how much AP you have, especially in the middle of battle. If you're spamming lvl 1 mechs, but you have tons of AP and no ARMS on those mechs, churn out lvl 3 mechs!

Whatever you do, if you're in an even match with someone in a battle, don't make ships. Make mechs definitely, or tanks if they have a lot of mechs.

Stop playing the AI once you get the hang of it, you can leave the game in the 15 sec waiting period without any penalty.

Heheh, don't be afraid to try dif things out, but once you figure out what really work, get fast.

    !!!

Would love to get this game, but I'll wait until the single player campaign. Not really into multiplayer with RTS games.

Game looks really awesome though. Kudos to the developers

lawl. ggs i was in that game with you too. And i ended up winning. O_O... I knew that someone was going to take the center (turned out to be you) And i knew that everyone was going to try to attack the center first (which is what purp did). Then Green was harrasssing you while building major ship army, which was a GREAT STRAT. He came in and dominated anything. But i was playing defensive.

I had no miners. 2 level 3 ships. 200 ap. And my Mothership at 15%... So i decided to scout out with my ships for any open mines. I found one, but so did the enemy apparantly.. Who took out that ship. So i knew that he was looking for me vigoriously so i just turtled out in the corner. i went to go get a drink, and when i came back i won. :p

I'll just keep thinking that it's because no one has gotten too deep into the game yet since it's so new, and not because this is a fail thread, that no one else is posting or contibuting heh. But I really hope you guys do once you get to know the game.

In this post I'll give you my start and some details on how I play.
Also, if you're reading this Tony, I'd suggest pulling the plug on the ARMS store. It really is a great idea but I think until everything is balanced, it shouldn't really be here. But that's just a suggestion, don't know if that's possible to do very easily.

    Anyways:
-the second the game starts, get the two mechs on the mine, queue up 6 lvl 1 mechs right after. Move your MS closer to the mine if it's kinda far away, speed is of the essence. As soon as a guy pops out, make sure he's mining. When you've made three mechs, get the MS moving on to your next mine, while you fill up your original one with 6 mechs. You should have 2 spare mechs now and your MS moving to a second mine by 0:30-0:40.

-once you get to know the maps, you'll figure out the common spots where mines will be, even though it's random every game. Move your 2 mechs on immediately and you better have 2 more mechs queued up, along with a lvl 3 tank. Never have your queue empty.

-get 4-6 mechs on the second mine, your choice. Don't just spam mechs though like, like I said, get a tank or a few. They really are important. By 2:00, I have 3-4 L3 tanks already, while continuosuly queueing mechs, cap the tanks off at 4. So anyways by this time, 1:30-2:00, you should be on your way or already have a third mine. On some maps, you'll meet your opponent here.

-I love go be aggressive when I see the enemy so I immediately go at him with everything, of course focus fire. Remember to move stragglers back if they're alone in the front line or left behind somewhere. 1 unit can win you the Game. Most likely, your opponent won't have ships yet, since this is 2:30, but if he does, even better for you. Mechs own them. If you see he's just massed mechs, delete your queue of mechs very quick and get a tank in there, and then queue the mechs back up.

-unless you're playing me, or the devs, no one at 2:30-3:00 will have anything near you, so blow them to pieces. Aim at the tanks if he has any, than focus fire on the mechs. Never target the MS, that's a very bad idea. If you think your losing, get the hell out of there. Double tap away, which is force move if anyone doesn't know. Build up a sizeable army very quick and get right back at your enemy. If you run, he'll think he's got you. Prove him wrong.

-this is just my style since I'm very into speed, and can end most 1v1 by 3:30-4:30. The only map where I suggest getting ships is the xzone one, on the others you're really better off using my blitzkrieg technique.

    Hope this helps you guys.

Lol if you say so heh.
But your strategies are crazy and are more like boom tactics. The way I play is strictly rushing.

Depends what mood i'm in. I hate rushers. >_<. They always trip me up. How i play is expand. Then take control of mines slowly, while building up mass of planes/mechs/tanks. Then attack you all at once.
