Are there any relatively inexpensive laptop cooling pads that actually work?

My cheap laptop always overheats. I've cleaned all of the dust out of it, but even watching a few youtube videos will make it overheat. I'm not in a position to buy another one, and I don't know enough about HP laptops to manually install a better fan. I'm looking into a laptop cooling pad. There are some on amazon that have fairly good reviews, but I would like some other people's opinions.

Laptop coolers come in two varieties, ones with fans that actively cool your laptop and ones that are made of some kind of thermally conductive material that work like a heat sink of sorts. The ones with fans work decent, and basically all work the same. You can pick up a cheapo here- http://s.dealextreme.com/search/laptop+cooling (This stuff comes direct from China so while it's cheap shipping can take a week or two.)

The passive heat sink kinds suck, avoid those at all costs.
