most of the people i know don't care about race. it's really just the media trying to get attention. i think most of the people in all of the countries aren't racist. in a way, it makes the media somewhat racist because they are basing what they say on the small portion of people in every country that is racist.
Mmm, the attacks on 'taxi drivers' weren't very fun, agreed. I have also made the observation that when a 'white' persons(s) is racist to a 'black' person(s) this is an UPROAR! But when it's the other way around no-one really cares. I think that the human race has tried to make everyone feel like everyone else is their equal (which I believe they are, by the way), but we've kind of 'overshot the mark', so to speak.
+1 Eddie Murphy can dress like a white person, paint his face white and make fun of white people and that is considered funny. If white person does the opposite - Oh my god, what a drama! I think these days political correctness is being taken too far, to the point of being ridiculous. How ironic that the 5 performers who painted their faces black to impersonate Jackson 5 were actually Indians.
I'd imagine Australia is probably just as racist as the US. In that it's there, but it doesn't define the culture, at least not anymore. But that hoogie fella sure does provide for a good read!
Almost half of my family lives in Melbourne and Gold Coast and they told me that Australians are very nice people, except a few. Sometimes it is the Indians that provoke them, but being there they have never encountered anything which can be categorized as racist, in fact I went there on a holiday last year and I almost felt at home, there are thousands of Indian, Pakistani diaspora studying in Australia and I myself am planning to attend Victoria university. Australia =/= Racist America =/= Racist (at least towards non muslim Indians)
