Never thought I would like platform games because of the controls until Mikey Shorts, then Wimp won me over. Let's go see how that lite version is. Sanuku Well-Known Member Jun 14, 2009 11,954 4 38 Austria http://www.touchgameplay.com #4 Sanuku, Oct 3, 2012 The Game hasn`t seen any Update in the last two Years. Shows truelly how much the Developer is carrying about his Games or is listening to the Feedback of his Community when there are literally dozen of Bugs get reported over the last two Years on his own Forum. Sorry to say that but that`s not how it is done and I don`t see why I should support someone that doesn`t give a damn about if his Products get fixed or not and instead just keeps moving on to the next Game. Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #6 Connector, Oct 3, 2012 Fun game, reminds me of Wimp in that it is a puzzle platformer which are kind of rare. The controls work very well and are moveable, which is cool, and the gameplay fun and puzzling. The only thing that does concern me a little is the pricing history. I can not quite fathom why they released at $8, and why every couple of months, arbitrarily change the price. Doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to it. Look at the price history below: http://appshopper.com/games/archibalds-adventures Strange right? And it almost makes you feel that this game will be 99 cents come Thanksgiving or Christmas. For 99 cents, this game is a steal though. It is still probably a good deal at $1.99 too, but I hate getting into the early adopter blues type situation, so this whole price history thing has me baffled a little. Not to sound cheap or anything, I know it's just a buck, but looking at the pricing history just made me a little dizzy. The game though is solid, guess I'll play the lite some more to see if I really want it. Weird was all ready to buy it for $1.99 until I saw the wacky pricing history. I would never pay $8 for this game though, but maybe some people would. But I kind of had a bad day today, so maybe I will change my mind tomorrow. Who knows. Gunlock Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2010 472 0 16 #7 Gunlock, Oct 3, 2012 This is a brilliant platformer. One of the best games in the genre I have ever played actually. I remember playing the lite version (it was 2010 I think) and after finishing it I immediately bought the full game for 4 bucks without hesitating for a second. Fantastic mix of platformer and a puzzle game. And now, on sale, for two bucks you get 191 levels so very good value IMHO. Game looks great and has a very good, moody soundtrack (you can actually go to the devs website and download the soundtrack for free). Controls work great, but you have to get used to the specific balloon controls. The balloon behaves well, like a balloon. Quite tricky, but totally controllable. I totally agree with everything Sanuku said. It would be great to see this game updated. Two years is a long time in iOS universe. I havent encountered any game breaking bugs but the usual price of this game is 4 bucks, so they should update it more frequently and keep the level of quality of their product as high as possible. I'm sure the game will be 99 cents by xmas time, but even if it is, I don't mind cause it is a fun game. Man, got some really good platformers nowadays with this game, Mikey shorts, wimp, fancy pants, and max and the marker. I used to hate platformers, now I am a convert! Platformers can work on ios! Now I wish Legion of Evil series would update to moveable controls. I like their games, but the controls are too far apart for me on my ipad. So about 9 months ago. And the price history is crazy, with the pricing degrading with time, so yeah, I do think they will make the app 99 cents come xmas time. I am willing to bet that this app will go down to 99 cents within the next 6 months if you want to make a wager of a 99 cent app, don't know who could judge this, but there must be someway to do it. Wanna bet an app? chris1a Well-Known Member Mar 10, 2010 1,335 1 0 Sweden #12 chris1a, Oct 4, 2012 This game was released on PSP and I'm guessing at normal retail price. And it probably didn't do to well on the AppStore so the dev did what everyone else on the AppStore does, changed the price trying to find a price point at which it would at least sell some copies. Either way this is a great platform/puzzler with a huge amount of content so moaning about $1 this or that way is silly. Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #13 Connector, Oct 4, 2012 Ok, fine then I will just rag about the game being buggy, too difficult, and abandoned ware like many users here like Sanuku and others. I don't need this kind of grief over a developer that you can tell doesn't support his products and tries to price gourge his customers. I should have followed my gut instinct on not buying this game because of the negative developer remarks and price gourging. Yeah, it is just a buck, but there are principles involved if developers want to be greedy and unresponsive to bugs and issues in their games. So, if you or Metalgasket want, put your so called measly buck on the table and let's place a real wager of a dollar buck, and bet whether this game goes to a buck within the next six months. I challenge you. So will counter some of your points. First, by you saying it was released on the PSP, what does that mean? That we should just feel lucky that the game is now cheap rather than $50 or whatever it was? Or you saying this is a console quality game, cause I would have to wonder about that with the not so good graphics and controls. This just isn't an $8 ios game to me. And I think it is fair for us to mention points about price gourging or an app that is likely to go down to 99 cents at xmas time. Electronic arts is the same way, they often have sales where games go down to $1, and it is noted that way. In the last two years, this game has gone down to $1 every year, and because of the volatile price fixing style of the developers, I really do think it will this year. Because of this wasted buck of mine, I will be missing out on getting Amazing Spiderman, so yeah, you can say it is nothing, but missing one great game like this is worth my while. If you compare this game to other great platform games on ios, it is better than average, but their are so many games better like Wimp or Mikey Shorts that only cost one dollar, and they are much better than this game. This game is a lot like Wimp in that it is a puzzle platformer, and Wimp beats it hands down. And it's regular price is 99 cents, not playing games like this developer wants to do and price it anywhere from $8 to a buck. Heck, you were talking about console ready, and Wimp is one game that could easily come out on the xbox 360 or 720. This game not so much. So sometimes 99 cents has some value, and if losing that buck on this game means me misssing out on a truely amazing game like Wimp or Amazing Spiderman, than yeah, I will moan and be silly about it. So put your money where your mouth is and bet me a buck app if this app goes to 99 cents or free in the next 6 months.
