Ventura, lucky for you I said I *might not have to* Whereas Archangel is more action oriented, if/when I created one my take on captaining a starship will likely be more strategic and turn based. You definitely know where my heart lies! Paramount is pretty viciously defending Star Trek copyrights, especially with the success of their new film, so actual Romulans and Klingons are probably out of the question. Would you be interested in sharing more of your thoughts about what makes EGA Trek great in a PM? I tried to dig around for a few minutes to provide links to self-rejection and re-submission helping, but I couldn't locate any blogs. I did read about this tactic on the iPhoneDevSDK.com forums a few times though: http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/business-legal-app-store/18097-resubmitting-app.html http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/iphone-sdk-development/5997-important-people-whove-been-waiting-many-weeks-review.html My quick search about rejection did pop up this article from a few months ago that is of great interest to you: http://www.mobileorchard.com/avoiding-iphone-app-rejection-from-apple/ Specifically item #3, simulating "failures". Makes me think the shattered screen effect has something to do with the delay. Of course Apple is notoriously bad at responding or actually telling you what their issues are when they do respond (as dev Scotopia here can attest to, since he got nailed for the cracked screen too)... hopefully you have some fallback imagery without the cracks ready to go if needed. Anyway, would love to chat about development, the app store, and your situation so PM me when you have a moment. I buy a lot of stuff in the app store for, erm, research purposes (over $1000 worth so far)... Always good to keep an eye on the "competition", plus the games help pass the time on these long consulting trips. Your upcoming game is on my short watch list!
Of course, it would help if most of the games to bear the Star Trek name weren't rubbish, but for the most part, they always have been. They haven't exactly exploited the success of the new film anyway, because that D-A-C project currently available on the 360 is about all they've done, and that's pretty much crap too. The thought occurs that if they did a better job with the official games, we wouldn't be so eager to throw the Enterprise and Klingons into our own. I certainly will get to that, but for now, I've got to go to work. Bah.
Yes EGA Trek would be awesome on the iPod Touch/iPhone, have to agree with Ventura. However other than that are their any updates BeyondtheTech? The only app I actively search for on the store as of now.
Unfortunately, no updates from Apple's side yet. I've check that other thread here on TouchArcade, and people who have submitted around my time are also getting no response or no status updates either. I'm getting quite frustrated, as I'm sure you are, and I'm very much considering the reject/resubmit, if I know it will definitely get the attention it deserves. I'm at my other job that has everything pretty much "websensed," so I can't check CommanderData's first two links regarding that idea. In the meantime, I'm setting up the website and trying to shoot some video clips to piece together for a walkthrough.
I really wouldn't recommend that, as I suspect it would end up right at the back of the queue once again, with no advantage other than that. Really, it's been so long now that you're better off just waiting it out at this point, especially if others who have submitted around the same time are also still waiting. When it comes to things like this, I really do think that patience is a virtue.
I've checked with other developers and they have sorta confirmed that any rejection results in the review process being restarted, due to the fact that a new binary uploaded could constitute any and all changes to your program, so they don't want developers to take advantage of sneaking in a feature or change when the focus for the initial rejection was for something else. I'm sure it's also to make sure that one fix didn't break another, but of course, with everyone being so defensive and combative between developers and the App Store review team, I'm not surprised they came up with the first scenario. Considering that the last submission was on the 19th, it has to be any day now. Most developers I spoke to say its usually 7-10 days from a submission. That being considered, I'm on day 8. Can't be much longer. Cross your fingers.
Actually, since Minigore was apparently submitted on 11th and that's still not out, it will likely be at least another week until we see Archangel out there, assuming these things are released on a "first come, first served" basis.
I doubt that it's first come, first serve. Nano Rally was submitted way after Minigore, and it's out. Who knows how they do the approval?
If I were a developer and apps submitted after my own were released first, I wouldn't be all that happy about it. Either way, I do think Apple need to up their game. I honestly don't think they were expecting this platform to have taken off as well as it has, because they seem completely incapable of handling what it has become. A victim of their own success, you might say.
Wait, what? Based on your info here in this thread you had submitted on the 3rd, and on the 10th you said that Apple reviewers had contacted you with a rejection about the large and small icon... Which you said you dealt with the same day. Now you are telling us that you had another rejection on the 19th that you never mentioned? What for that time? The whole idea of hitting the reject/resubmit is if you had been in review limbo for *weeks* with no feedback. Believe it or not, apps have been lost like this indefinitelty and only a reject/resubmit works precisely because it puts them back in the back of the queue instead of being off in never-never land Since you have had regular contact and rejections from Apple every seven to nine days I certainly would not recommend this tactic... I was under the impression you had not heard anything all month until I reread this thread more carefully and saw your most recent post From what I hear lately 7 to 10 days is usually only for update submissions, and brand new apps/games have been held up as much as two or even three weeks in some cases. Anyway, best of luck. Hopefully we'll get lucky and see the game appear this week Edit- went and read through posts in the long wait thread, and I see you do mention the rejection there. As I mentioned above though, it seems you have been seeing regular contact and rejections every week or so... definitely not in limbo, so all you can do is wait. Either you'll get accepted this week, or they will throw out another rejection for the broken glass Apple's funny like that. They only bother to list one reason for rejection every time, even if they know more than one... and will keep us poor devs running like a hamster in a wheel unless we do our homework ahead of time!
Apologies if this is annoying but any updates BeyondtheTech? Hate to see this game get lost in the plethora of shitty apps.
Wow, I feel special - I got a phone call from Apple directly regarding my game. Looks like it should clear up in a couple more days. More information regarding the call is posted here.
ugh what a dang thing to hold up an app, but I suppose it makes sense. Silly people and their lawyers Pretty cool to hear the caller gave your game some props
I bet it goes right to the back of the queue again, just for that. Mid next week BeyondtheTech, you'll probably get an email about something else they don't like. I certainly won't be expecting Archangel anytime before then. Must admit I did chuckle about the "we're not understaffed" bit. Some apps are taking well over a couple of weeks to get approved. If you were quick enough, it could conceivably take you less time to write the thing.
Wow that kinda sucks, damn movie companies. But on the plus side its good to know that it should be cleared up in a few days, unless something else comes up. Still can't wait for the game though.
