Right now, I'm far from falling in love with this game. Yes, the world ist huge and possibilities are endless. But still this game doesn't look that good and doesn't control that well. It feels a bit like a big scale indie game done without enough time and resources (which it is), but somehow I was hoping for more. Ravensword felt far more polished to me. I really loved that one. I'm still giving it time to grow on me. But so far it's not really a breeze to play through.

What bugged me really early in character costumization: Why can I just choose between rapists and truck drivers? How about 1 (!!) pleasent face? :)

I wasn't referring to this game specifically, more or less the idea that somehow it's okay to release a game so full of bugs a case of Raid wouldn't help it. However, since you mention, I do think the game should've been held back a bit to fix some of the bugs. I've not experienced any myself, as I stopped playing to wait for the patch. It's frustrating though when a dev I like a lot, Cresecent Moon in this case release two games in a row that have game stopping bugs (Rimelands being the other).

To say that it will have the support of the devs is simply a copout. My point is, what if all devs started releasing bug ridden games and we had to wait for patches and updates to play them? How is that fair? When I buy something I expect it to work well enough that I can at least finish it. To do anything less than release a game with as few bugs as possible is simply piss poor business sense. Had EA or Gameloft released a game with the amount of problems reported here, there'd be holy hell to pay. I support indie devs but hold them to the standard of quality as anyone else.

Fortunately for devs, people have very short memories. I remember when DH1 came out and it had a game stopping bug that made it impossible to progress-so many people said they would never buy another gameloft game again. Once the fix came out a week later, people seemed to forget there was ever anything wrong.

I love Aralon. It's not perfect, but neither is it the second coming of gaming either.

another BIG bug D: main storyline quest

Right so after the update i played the game for quite a fair bit.... and oh dear i found another bug, a REALLY big one, hope i dont have to restart.
So the main questline had me go find Darius and then talk to Gorak (ifi remember the name correctly) I then have to go to the crypt and talk to the dead queen. I returned to Gorak and he gave me a new quest to onceagain speak with Darius. I had to go so i saved the game and closed the app.
Today i re open it, and i notice the quest is missing from my log. I go to Darius, but theres nothing there except the couple gossip stuff. I go back to Gorak and he has no quests for me whatsoever. In my quest log i only have the 3 sapphires from the bank quest and the guild quest to enter the mansion.
    HELP!?
IS it possible to get this bug fixed or do i have to restart (for second time now D:)

I tend to disagree. Yes there are bugs and design issues to work out, and it would have been nice to have these fixed before release. However, having worked in the gaming industry for years, I also know that releasing in time for the holiday is huge for sales, and money is what makes it all work. I think this game far surpasses Ravensword, both in scope and quality.

As for the character textures, it can be difficult to get nice looking textures when you're working with such high constraints that force texture sizes and model resolutions to be so low. That said, I agree that some of them could possibly look a bit better in quality. I guess it depends on what you're asking for - are you wanting higher quality textures or just faces that are more pleasant to look at? The latter could be done, but maybe they WANTED the more adventurous looking type than the model type.

It's not about the texture quality, which isn't the best in general - due to the world's size, I guess. Just faces, I like to identify with. Or at least, the one on the icon...? :)

I'm not saying the game is bad. However, I'm saying that the mentality of people who think releasing a game with a ton of potential in a buggy and unpolished state is OK just isn't reasonable. And yes, though the comparisons that ScottColbert used weren't exactly realistic, they do make sense. Nobody wants a buggy game, period. And people can't pretend it hasn't been released, because well, it has.

It's understandable that such a big game like this would have some problems, and I'm OK with that, but the way that the hardcore supporters of this game are spinning is that just because Aralon is a game of epic scope means that the fact that it has bugs is alright.

I respect and admire both Galoobeth and Crescent Moon Games, and I'm glad that indie developers can create such games. I have no problem with them. It's just the way some people are reasoning that gets under my skin.

I hope nobody has hard feelings over this post though, just trying to put a little more reason into the argument. :)

this friggin game is starting to piss me off..all these f'n bugs n glitches take the fun out of the game.

i just completed the quest where you have to kill the 3 witch sisters for the magic quilde. so i travel alllllllllllllllllllll that way for the game to just decide to not give me my 25000 xp and shit. i talk to dersia and she congratulates me for killing them..lets me pick my extra perk but i get nothing and the quest stays in my quest log.

    anyone else experience this??

Why do people not like the icon? I think it looks great. Yeah, it's not a beautiful woman or something, but it still looks good to me.

? If you're referring to their sales, how do you know? If you're referring to bug fixes, those take time - the game was just released, what, a week or so ago? Bug fixing can take weeks, depending on the number and severity, and that's not including the resubmission time.

Scaling should be an easy fix

I would think that actor scaling would be easy to adjust. As far as these things go.

RE: actors seem too small for the environment.

It is not just you - the characters seem to be scaled at about 70% of normal size for some odd reason. doors bug me most - walk up to one and your head is lined up directly with the middle of the door.

Bookcases are so high you would never be able to reach the books..

Oh, and beds - you need a stepladder to get in them!

I wondered if it was deliberate to make the world seem larger tbh. I would imagine it is a tricky fix though, re-scaling everything..

Thanks der-kleine! One other question though. How do I get past the lightning in the crypt?

Just started and i am a bit confused about this game...

I am in the first village and i have just talked with Sufok.

Now i have two side quest : chief kargath and help jarvis .... but in every combat i made i die in 10 seconds! What's wrong ? I have just started (level 3 by first 5 minutes of playing) and i cannot combat with anyone :(

Why is so difficult? I have two button (sword and shield) but the combat is in real time so if i defend me (press shield button) i cannot attack.. and the enemies continue to attack me.

Please help me.. i am "shocked" :(

Interesting quest reward of 50,000 xp for killing the minotaur king. It's fairly quick once you're tough enough to take on two minotaurs at once and when I completed it at level 27 (very close to 28) the quest reward xp was enough to get me to level 31. Nice, but that seems in need of a slight downward adjustment as I skipped 3 whole character levels, and a bit more.

I'm wondering how high you could level if you got to the level cap just on killing but saved all your high xp completed quests and cashed them in after hitting that cap. Anyone know how far 50,000 xp would get you if you were already level 40? Just out of interest...

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but
this game is entirely programmed by one person in his spare time.
Despite the crashing bugs, seemingly related to iOS 4.1 and 4.1.2,
its a really amazing feat. I'm still amazed that Jason could do all of this himself.
He not only has a full time job but he has two kids as well!
Hopefully Jason figures out the 4.2 and 4.2.1 issues, which seem to be memory related, or the current version of Unity. There's a new version of Unity coming out soon that we'll need to try out, to see if it helps.

    Agreed.

People are quick to criticize when they don't know what it takes to make one part of a game like this, let alone make the entire thing work like it does now. Throw kids into the mix and that makes it twice as interesting :)

well I wasn't going for a sympathy vote, but it still is pretty amazing for one person.
