Now I'm stumped. I was gonna get it after beta testers said 2nd gen was good to go. My 2nd gen has withstood aging and processes awesomely, so I believed what they said and planned on buying this. Now it seems 2nd gen crashes a lot. What's the bottom line?
I have thought about that, but if there are problems with the 2G as the crashes that are now being reported and they're never fixed, then I'm left with nothing. Not blaming the devs. They warn in the description what devices it'll play on. Just sounded like there was hope for 2G owners --- until some of tonight's posts about crashes. Game looks great!
I just read their review. I don't think they have a problem with hype, or with indie developers. They're just a little less forgiving when it comes to bugs.
I feel your pain and that's why I waited on purchasing. Unfortunately, you can't plan on the devs fixing something they never promised (2G support). I do know they have said they'd look to optimizing it for us in the future. Just know that it was never officially stated that it would work on a 2G.
Initial impressions are that I am going to have much fun with this. This looks to be an amazing game for the money. My main criticisms: On a non-jb 4.2.1 iPad and the loading screens and menus are all iPhone-sized. Music is way too loud. Way louder than the voice. And when playing an mp3, the background music continues to play over the top until manually toggled. Also, music is just too aggressive. It should be more environmental instead of such a major-key repetitious bombast, but that's just my opinion. If not full cloud syncing of savegames, PLEASE let us at least export the savegames out of iTunes file manager like The Quest does. The idea of having my high level saves left to the mercy of iTunes sync and restore is scary.
Not sure if the developers themselves ever confirmed support. I don't know what to think. Just wonder why people are having such drastically different experiences on their 2Gs. Maybe it has to do with how much space they have left on it (for memory swapping)?
One update that everyone should want is the ability to load the menu/options directly from the game instead of quitting.. And also the SD version, even though the SD version is actually inside the HD- Compared 3gs to 2g
Great game...so wonderful to have a completely open world to explore; the number of quests is amazing and I've just scratched the surface of the storyline. It does crash on occasion when going into a new area, but luckily the autosave works really well so progress isn't lost. I also have to echo what others have mentioned about the size of the inventory/skills menus....they are tiny and do seem to be the iPhone versions (playing on iPad). This isn't prohibitive, but it looks odd. Not sure if this is intentional, but it would be better to have these scaled up. All in all though this is by far one of the best RPGs I've purchased and I'm greatly looking forward to continuing the adventure (need to get some sleep first ). Kudos to all involved!!
Game Impressions It crashed on my 3gs as well. So I turned down the graphics setting to medium. It works fine now but still is a bit choppy at times, even on a restart. Anyone annoyed by the long load times when you enter a house though? After so many load times, I want to avoid going to houses altogether. Another thing I don't like is that you can't auto pick-up items. I know it might be better because you have a limited inventory supply but there should at least be an option. Also, the controls are kinda iffy. The swipe to look is choppy at times...The inventory system is unintuitive. When I want to close the description of an item by hitting the "x", it selects a different item instead of closing the description. I don't really like the combat system either. It feels so boring and I felt droopy(that might be a side effect of staying up studying for the finals though plus lying down in my bed). What I DO like is the graphics. When it's not laggy, the environments are stunning and the caves are really well done. Overall, I'm really sad to say that I don't really like the game. It may change later on but I felt myself drifting away from it and playing Real Racing 2 instead. It might be different for some of you guys but I guess this game is not for me, you know? Oh well.
People with 2g devices should turn both graphic settings all the way down. Like watabou said this game lags occasionally even on a 3GS Long load time is worth it...that's alot to load.
Probably but it gets really annoying. I like to explore so I pop in an house to check and there's a loading bar that takes a 6 seconds. Okay I'm done with the house so I pop back out and loading screen once again that takes 10 seconds this time. And then onto the next house. You can see where I'm going with this.
speaking of which, how is the battery life on this compared to other graphic intensive games? This being a 30+ hour game, I hope you can get a good play session without killing your batteries =3
