Just for whats its worth (maybe not much depending on how you view the source) pocket gamer reviewed the game and gave it a 6/10. http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Various/Aralon%3A+Sword+and+Shadow/review.asp?c=25993
Everybody download it, let's get this to beat the countless other popular releases! If there's anybody who deserves their app to dominate the charts, it is these guys.
No problem! I would say every good thing deserves a little wait. Edit: Heck, now I want someone to port Mount&Blade to iOS...
I used to try to reply to their idiotic reviews, particularly the ones that were filled with totally incorrect information. I gave up -- their editorial standards are a joke, even for the gaming industry. For what it's worth, STP gave it a glowing review (though they did mention a few hiccups, most of which should already be fixed in the version that actually released).
I don't think it's totally inaccurate...it's actually quite fair. After the smoke clears you see the ashes. Btw downloading now
After a few minutes of gameplay, I've got to say Aralon is really beautiful. The controls say some time getting used to btw. And it seems like you can't really look up towards the sky to enjoy more view, but still amazing
I meant that sarcastically...I'm not one to criticize other reviewers since they are based on personal opinion and preferences.
Just read TouchArcades review... I had some water welling up in my eyes. It's a beautiful thing to finally see Aralon released to the fans. These guys worked hard. A small and caring team. They are not the powerful Gameloft. Crescent Moon and Galoobeth have hit a home run. I am proud to have tested this game and offered what I could suggestion wise. It's been a great run. Now to play it some more
Not to belabor a point, but in their review of Shining Force the writer spent about a paragraph complaining about the manual save system. The game, of course, saves automatically upon quitting (though if you die you go back to the last manual save). I posted a correction in the comments, pointing out several other inaccuracies. They ended up making one change to the review, but months after it came out the paragraph about the save system is still there. Their complaints about Aralon didn't strike me so much as inaccurate as simply overblown. And considering they were reviewing a beta version, they could at least have checked with the publisher to see if the final version corrected the problems -- which is standard procedure for game reviews. They have every right to their opinion, of course, and I wouldn't expect unanimous praise for a game like Aralon, or any other game for that matter.
Everyone's opinions and reviews are valid. We love hearing all feedback, as that makes us better and stronger. We want to deliver the same sort of game you all are expecting. If you get the game, download it, let us know what you think, we can all create something amazing. We are beyond excited for this release; there are hardly any words to describe it. Your support means that we can keep making this game all it is, and keeps us able to bring Aralon to everyone. Let's make this game number one! Touch Arcade made this game what it was, and I know we can keep it up. You guys rock; let's do this!
I'm disappointed with the crashing on my iPod Touch 2G... I know it's designed for the higher-end devices but I thought things might be different because of some of the tester's comments. I guess I'll have to save up for a new device or wait until an update to actually play.
Yes. Check your character's skills: every class has some kind of open lock skill (either magical, by finesse, or force).
Weird thing happened. I killed Tom the thumb and tried to go in the mansion (you need level 100 lock picking) and then when I was walking back to the city, Tom was back alive again, and when I killed him my objective for that quest changed from 1/1 to 2/1
Hmmm...was just thinking of downloading this because of the comments that it seemed to run fine on the 2G. Maybe I'll hold off after all. Have you re-booted your iPod Touch? Know that sometimes helps. The more feedback from 2G users, the better. (Sorry, with everything coming out I can't afford to buy everything so I need as much info as I can get)
