The Iphone is not far off being as powerful as the PC I first played morrowind on so theirs no reason why there can't be more of the epic deep games, it's just for whatever reason, either lack of profit or expertise no-one seems to bother, I suppose it's far easier to knock out a simple flash game and sell it for 2.99 than spend months or even years developing a quality game.

I think your time invested will be repayed though, I think this will be the game everyone who plays Iphone game must own, even if they're not a fan of the genre.

I saw the new screens on pocketgamer, they look gorgeous you really have made a very special game.

Is the desert the same as the sand area late in the game?

The iPhone isn't suited for epic games. Who wants to, say, play some game like Aralon on the tiny screen for hours when you could be playing an as epic game like Fallout 3 on your PS3.

Not that I'm critisizing Aralon, as I love how it is attempting to make a fully fledged game that will be great, and I certainly will play it when i am using my iPod but the market is too small for those type of games.

I would much rather have Aralon on the iphone then play a game like Fallout 3 on a PS3 because Aralon and the iphone are portable, you can play it anywhere. You can't play Fallout 3 anywhere. I know a lot of people that would love epic games on the iphone, I for one am constantly searching for a iphone game with an original good storyline and deep awesome gameplay (I know that's asking a lot for an iphone game) hopefully Aralon will be exactly what I've been searching for.

Me for one, I travel a lot, I also used to be a soldier and spent half of my career in the arse end of nowhere without even internet access watching films on my laptop or playing psp.

I find even now at home I prefer playing Iphone to PS3 which just sits gathering dust, I always have my Iphone on me and charged up, because it's my phone , and because the games are cheap I am more willing to take a risk and buy something because it looks fun.
I have played games where I have been staring at the screen for hours , infact i find it more immersive, for example beneath a steel sky, I played it through, in one sitting at home on the Iphone where as on PC I just couldn't get into it.

Time spent playing Borderlands on my Mac (via OnLive): 4 or 5 hours

Time playing Crimson Gem Saga on my iPhone: over 20 hours.

Time playing War of Eustrath on my iPhone: over 20 hours

If people can play 40-50 hr games on a DS, they can certainly do so on an iPhone.

Yeah but because of the market, and people buying cheap, short games, there will unfortunately not be a place for these epic games to really thrive and so not as many.

And TBH the only games I've played for ages on DS are RPGs, specifically Pokemon (lol 500 hours on Pokemon Sapphire, 200 on Diamond.)

The comparison with consoles has never really been a feasible one, since you can't carry your PS3 around in your pocket when you're out and about.

That said, however, I still don't get why you would still play on your iDevice when you're at home. When I'm at home, my iPhone gets zero playtime, since I'm too busy playing on consoles/PC.

And yet people are making thes games and making profit, there has also been a sharp rise in them recently, square have caught on, others will follow, there will be more indy devs catching on not to mention pc/xbox/ps2/dreamcast ports as other big companies jump on the band wagon and realise they can make money from their back catalogue with very little work.

Can't answer for anyone else, but for me, I work all day in front of a computer screen, so playing on one in the evening doesn't hold that much appeal. I've also come to prefer having an iPhone or iPad in my hands over hunching over a laptop screen or sitting at a desk.

I haven't owned a console since I gave away my PS2 and bought a PSP -- playing on the TV pretty much takes over the room, which doesn't work with my family.

Hey, if I take your quote out of context, the Apple press event just proved you wrong. Get it?!

I think its a fighting game from the looks of it - like street fighter medieval style?

In any event, Aralon is not just about pretty graphics, but also about depth of gameplay.

That said, having tried tech demo, all I can say is OMFG! Makes graphics on the 3DS look like cartoons.

that's what it looks like to me too. aralon has great-looking graphics, but it's the 30+ hours of deep gameplay that I'm interested it. i also just like supporting crescent moon galoobeth for upping the iphone gaming standard!

Well I'm sure you can't go fishing in a street fighter-like game, so Aralon still has a lot more features, and the graphics are not bad. (You'll just have to live with not being the best in everything!)
