thats a good idea in concept but i would feel like such an idiot if i escaped a fight within an inch of my life and died in a stupid campfire
just take the time that you need. i wouldnt mind if the game would be released sometime in 2011. The important thing is that its going to be a good (the best) game.
I agree, it would be very simple and easy to do. There could be special ones next to the standard ones as well. And of course there would be disadvantages to some, eg Fire enchanted weapons are weak against water etc
Oh right, I forgot that they'd borrowed Bioware's RPG C++ libraries. You're right: simple. @debtOFskittles: you fooled me!
Actually, it wouldn't be terribly difficult. A little tedious if your engine isn't designed to handle fire damage effects (such as adding enemy vulnerability/resistance to fire) but adding an extra damage modifier to a weapon class wouldn't be difficult.
The fire effects are already there. It's the system to manage weapon enchantments that seems non-trivial.
its not that it couldn't be done, we just have a huge list of priorities that we want working first. i went a little nuts with ideas... trying to be realistic so we can get a game out!
Uhh the ground textures in the screen shots are pretty bad. everything else looks fine. also, any 3GS optimization (OpenGL ES 2.0)
3GS optimization? this might not even run on anything older than a 3gs. Also, the graphics are your opinion though I have to ask what you're comparing it to. To me anyway the graphics look fantastic.
its probably because the mip mapping makes them look blurry. haven't figured out how to get the mip biasing to work with our terrain shader yet. it only seems to effect one of the textures when its on - but it also increases the texture memory used by a lot... its all give and take...
When I meant a simple way I meant a lot more simple than making a whole "system," with enchant shops and whatever. Simply using an isolated inventory item to apply an effect to a weapon is not difficult. Making an enchant system like The Quest's, is not as simple an ordeal. I'm a comp sci major, with the iphone sdk and a pet project - I haven't submitted anything yet, so maybe I'm still a non-dev, but I do know a couple things.
what is size on hard disk that it is going to be or is at right now? I imagine a game like this is at least over half a gig?
FINALLY a big RPG that isnt one of those Anime 2d rpg's(i dont like anime ) There are just too many of those RPG's. looking forward to this. Instant buy. No matter what the price tag is. actually i never care about the price as they are all low (ok except chaos rings) 6 for a full game is nothing people.
