Wow,that was a false alarm for me! Also if you need screenshots for the old graphics I still think I can find a few.
I took some screenshots from the old beta build today for comparison. It has come a looonnnnggggg way since then. Those who played the beta may not recognize the game!
I think we'll understand better the difference between the new and the old version with some screenshots
So the screenshots are only going to be what the game looks like on iphone 4? What about some screenshots of what the game will look like on the 3GS or earlier idevices? Remember apple has only moved 1.7 million iphone 4's which is about 2% of the total idevices in the world
well its still a question whether we'll support 2G devices. Possibly iPod touch 2G and above. Anything below that will just barf on these polys.
I really hope this won't be another Xenome! (I'm still peeved about the fact that 2nd gen users won't be able to play)
It would make sense to just have it compatible with third-generation devices, the iPhone 4, and iPad, all universally because they all have similar hardware. The iPhone 4 an iPad are obviously faster, though rendering the game at a lower resolution on the other devices should be fine. I'd really like a way to easily transfer save files between an iPhone 4 and an iPad so I can switch between the two as I play, possibly cloud-based. Please make the game universal at least for the iPhone 4 and the iPad, I could see myself putting a lot of time into it. I can't get over how well-drawn the concept art is. It definitely looks like a 3D world with high-quality textures and advanced shaders, and it's difficult to distinguish that it isn't. Josh, who I believe drew it, is incredible at that. I can't wait for the screenshots of the game.
its getting harder and harder to support the older devices because everyone wants better graphics. we'll do our best to try to support 2g touches at least!
omg. wtf dude. stop begging to test guys! DAMNIT. IF MORE TESTERS ARE NEEDED, THEY'LL BE CALLED FOR. bloody hell. see, why did nobody offer to test in the beginning. i guess this just goes to show how good a choice the guys at galoobeth made! (i dont mean to rip on you specifically btw. just to all the guys begging to test)
If you ask me, I'm starting to look at the iPhone game market like the PC game market. If you want to continue playing the coolest looking games, then you are going to have to upgrade your hardware when the time comes. It's just a simple fact of life in "geekland" that I, personally, haven't had a problem with since the days of DOS. If every company ALWAYS had to ensure that all of their new products were backwards compatible, then I really don't think we would have had all of the advancements we've seen, in just about everything, over the last 10 to 15 years. With that, I'd suggest simply developing the game as you see fit. Please don't hinder the possible greatness of your game just to simply allow for everyone to be able to enjoy it no matter what device they have. That's what makes the technology race fun...we always look forward to the NEXT big thing!
if the graphics are better than those of an avrage PSP game I'm happy. because my friend has one and I don't.
ugh, looks like I'm gonna be forced to buy the 4th gen ipod touch when it comes out, lol. Or I could just ditch ipod gaming and get a 360...
They look awesome, the character himself does look a bit small when compared to the world though. I must say I am extremely impressed!
The scale looks right to me -- I'm just assuming that those are some massive trees . BTW, unless something major has changed recently, the look of the main character will be fully customizable.
Meh... Am I the only one that liked the original graphics style better? I mean I liked the bright colors and cartoonish look. And this new look while there is alot more detail it just look kind of dark and dull.
I'm sure you're not the only one (see Jindo Fox's comment in the article thread). Trust me: calling the original look "cartoonish" is really inaccurate, since that assumes that there was an overall visual style. There actually wasn't, a fact that became obvious when you saw the game in motion. The whole thing was just an amateurish hodgepodge (visually-speaking). The new look may not quite be your taste, but it's definitely a huge improvement. BTW, I'm a big believer in freedom of speech, but if I had the power to ban the use of "Meh" in the internet, I would. I f*cking hate that expression.
