The thing about Infinity blade is that its more focused on battles then on storylines. They emphasized on graphics, and gameplay. Rage focused more on just graphics IMO. Yeah it was fun for a little while, but it just ended up being repetitive. IB has an RPG thing to it, so it gets you engaged. But all together, I really cant wait for Aralon. Ive been hoping and wishing a game like this would come to the App store. They say the inspiration came partly from Zelda, and who doesnt love Zelda right?
To me IB feels like what Dragon Lair was ages ago. Limiting. Rage a least .... Costed much less and gave me the same feeling.
I just picked up Infinity Blade, and I'm loving it so far - but it's nothing like what Aralon is said to be. Infinity Blade is a strategic 'brawler' of sorts, imbued with RPG elements such as collecting equipment and levelling up. There's no free-roam to speak of. The graphics are jaw dropping and the gameplay is fluid, but above all, the game itself is fun. However, it simply cannot be compared or placed in competition with Aralon. The games are of two separate genres, and share only a few common elements. I understand why Josh wouldn't want IB's hype-train to mask Aralon's release, and I get that completely - but for everyone else out there, putting Crescent Moon/Gabooleth's work over that of Epic Games/ChAIR's isn't fair to either developer. It's like comparing a slide of toast to a muffin - each of those items would suffice as a great breakfast food, it just depends what mood you're in. Infinity Blade = Highly polished fighter. Aralon = Highly polished RPG. Hope that clears some of the competition babble up, although there's no need for it in the first place.
Maybe my problem is that I took at the same time IB with Puzzle Quest 2, Chaos Rings for iPad, Gamebook 4 and I have been playing Rimelands HD beta the last days. Any one of these other games make IB look just like a demo version of what could be a great PC game. Anyway, Josh .... I am looking forward for this game!!! One week to go ..... One week too much
Looks like releasing a week after Infinity Blade is an extremely strategic move for you. By that point all the hype over IB will have died down, and everyone will be disappointed by the lack of depth. Thus when Aralon hits the App Store... sales are gonna be huuuuge. =)
I have a feeling the new trailer is coming this weekend. Why this weekend? I don't know. It just seems like the perfect time.
Yay!!! excited!! Can't wait. Can anyone tell me how mounts work ? Are there different mounts? Customisation?
IB was good, but I still think this will be much better (although we shouldn't really be comparing a fighting game to an action RPG).
There are several different kinds of mounts in the game, the first of which being the Horse. Mounts can be summoned at any time in an outdoor area, and they are LOTS of fun to ride, and they make the journey fast. There is no customisation in the form of different saddles/armour. Mounts appear in the inventory in the form of an object, and you will have to do a bit of questing/exploring to get all of them.
Wow. That's like WoW. Lol! Thanks man! I have plenty mire questions but I guess having them answered would just ruin the experience.
Looking forward to the Dec 16th release, as I have to hop on a plane the 17th. Aralon will keep me busy in the airport!
Well, I'm already bored of infinity blade (it's basically Infinity Blade Lite with no actual Infinity Blade)... So feel free to bring out Aralon any time now...
much? much? Did you just say "much"? No way. It will be muchmuchmuchmuchmuchmuchmuchmuchmuchmuchmuch better. You even can't compare it! Aralon is not some kind of stupid tech demo with an awesomeness factor.
Yeah, I probably should've put much more emphasis on the much! I read some of your posts on the IB thread, and I agree with you. IB is fun for the first hour, but after that it just get's repetitive and I think it's way overrated. December 16th will probably be the best day for iOS gaming for me. We have Aralon and NOVA 2 to look forward to and probably more that we don't know about (perhaps Real Racing 2 and BFBC2?)
I played Infinity Blade last night and I can say that these games are completely different - in fact, I don't think there are any aspects that are similar, other than the 'fantasy medieval' theme.
Yeah, that's what I was saying earlier. Infinity Blade is a fighting game, Aralon is an open world RPG. Different genres, different preferences. They shouldn't really be compared directly because it all comes down to which genre you prefer. And I myself prefer open world RPG games over fighting games and that's why I'm much more excited about Aralon.
