I'm really curious about the guilds, will they have and semblances of those in oblivion or morrowind or have any function other than quests?
I actually think that the combat system is a standout -- it feels pretty tactical, particularly when using stun attacks or stealth, and choices like between a heavy, lumbering weapon or a lighter, less powerful one makes a real difference. Choice of armor makes a difference as well, and playing a ranger/rogue requires a different strategy than playing a fighter. It all goes into giving the combat a decent amount of depth. In other words, I don't see as being limited by the platform. I mean, if you're using pretty much the same combat system as Dragon Age, I don't see where you go for a more complicated approach. Terrain is varied, with mountains, rivers, lakes, bridges, etc. Don't remember seeing an underground passage (like Moria), but, needless to say, there are plenty of caves, underground lairs, etc. In the original beta the terrain was a little sparse-looking, but I expect that Crescent Moon will work hard to make it seem like a vibrant, living place (as they did so well with Ravensword). Yes, you can swim, and it's handled pretty realistically -- you wade till the water is deep enough, the you automatically switch to a breast stroke. And you can even dive (though the game doesn't keep track of your air supply, I don't think). As you guessed, the guilds are profession based. I know that you can get quests from the guilds, but I don't think that you can form a party with other guild members, or hire mercenaries. Mages can summon pets/familiars, though, which fight alongside you. Skill trees are profession based, not race based as far as I know.
Do u guys still need testers? Because i'd love to be one because I've never tested an iPod game before and I would really like that experience.
Hmm the combat has alot more depth than I thought, from your explanation it seems like it'll be a pretty intense experience, as long as it actualy requires the users attention rather than just pressing "attack" n letting ur character do the work then this sounds pretty promising. That's not quite what I ment by the skill tree/stats question but I didn't know that so worked out for me but my original question was how does ur characters stats work (dexterity, strength ect...) do you chose at the creation of your character and as you lvl it automaticly adds points into each stat? Or does each stat lvl individualy? Or god forbid, do the stats come premaid with the race of the character? Also for the actual gameplay, is ther many glitches? Fall through floors type of things? Thanks again squarezero! P.S my apologie for spelling/grammer errors I'm on iPod and having trouble scrollling throught what I wrote...
It's been a little while since I started a new character, so I don't remember the relationship between races and stats, but I can say that there's tons of customization. You can choose which stats to upgrade, which skills to improve, etc. As to graphical glitches, that's the part that's changing the most with CM's involvement, so I can't speak to that. It wasn't bad before, though.
I can't remember if this has been answered, so I will ask. Is there a mage class? That was my fave in DA: O, and I would love to see it here.
I've spent the last week getting a 'Look" down. Designing trees and and other 'clutter'. I think I'm over that 'hump' now, and I'm designing some armour stuff a t present, before I jump back into the environment a bit more. I'd prefer to show you all a good solid "real game" shot, rather than some work in progress. I want this to be the strongest looking RPG out there. Mark
Once this game comes out I will have no life for a week or so lol one thing I would like to see is a picture of the map so I could see how big it will be. Thanks
Alright well thank you very much squarezero I think that's about all the questions I had, I appreciate the time and effort you put into answering my questions. If I can think of anything else I'll make sure to ask you
Our goal with Aralon is to keep you glued to the game and have your girlfriend/boyfriend threatening to destroy your idevice.
