As a BETA tester, I'm quite surprised how well they've compressed it. The graphics and game world are so immense, the file size really doesn't apply. Hence Hodapp's post above, the file size really doesn't matter.
well, when gamers think bigger file size sometimes maybe they think more content but for the app store usually Isnt the case. Btw, post some more screenies
Ok I'm working on Aralon XL - it will incporporate a bigger file size, and some random mp3's off my hard drive.
It's PSP envy. Folks look at 1 Gb+ file sizes on PSN and think that that's what it takes for a game to be truly "serious." I agree that it's ridiculous.
Okay.. i will try again. You should have at least 500 mb free (I think i'm going to copy paste this a couple of times)
mp3s are small, add some (uncompressed) videos too 5 minutes of video can easily be over a gigabyte big.
lol. Not a complaint my ICP loving friend. More of a shock if you read the post... Again, I was shocked at the size since FROM WHAT I AM HEARING, IT IS HUGE. Jesus Christ lmao. I expected it to be bigger that's all.
Game looks great, one major question: I have an iPad and iPhone - is there an easy way to transfer save files between the two ala GoF2 (OpenFeint?) I truly hate the fact that it's so damned hard to transfer save files between the two for most games!
But the majority of the content in Aralon is in the quest system, which is text based. For a point of reference, I own some kind of "ultimate edition" of Lord of the Rings which includes the whole trilogy of books as well as The Hobbit and The Silmarillion... Its file size? 4.4MB. In the case of Aralon, using file size as any kind of content gauge is not wise. I'll post some more screens today once I get time to play some more.
that one was my favourite. On the subject at hand, I'm not judging the game content by file size at all. And no one should as it seems to be huge. I, probably like most who have posted about the filesize are probably just shocked is all. Were going to get it anyways lol. How's the casting system by the way? When you get hit does the casting time increase a little? Like in WoW and others? Just curious. I'm probably rolling a Mage, as I roll in most RPG games.
To jump in on the size issue... A few years ago I installed Morrowind on my (modified) Xbox and was amazed that the game was less than a gig (I believe it was around 800 MB). Considering how many games were 2.5 or more GB for considerably less content, I was taught a valuable lesson in what code bloat means. Size matters not.
I just found out that Aralon isn't going to work on ipods older than the 3G. This makes me sad. I hope everyone who does get to play it has fun with it! I guess I'm left out of the awesomeness this time around.
Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring - Aralon looks EPIC and I'm definitely in when this one releases.
