I didn't follow the game at all until I heard it was submitted, I'm impatient so that way I didn't feel as if I was waiting for it and now I only have to wait about a week it two
Hmm. While I'm sure I'm still buying this, I'm getting more of a Legend of Zelda meets Fable vibe than anything else (watching that developer's video left me with the same impression). Combine that with the opinion of the playtester who preferred this game over Oblivion (due to some sort of taste reason) and I'm thinking this game may not be as close to my tastes as I had hoped. Ah well, I'll be happy to be proved wrong.
If this means there's more action and less task running / NPC-chatter, then I'll be happy. I know everyone has different tastes, but I play a video game to have fun, not read a book's worth of NPC dialog.
Hah, that's actually a disappointment. But then I didn't expect the NPC interaction and quest choices to be that deep. Hopefully in a sequel As long as I get some nice NPC characterization and they're not just signposts I'll be happy.
I think you can. I heard on the the touchgen podcast that you can just ignore the quest and have the dog follow you around for the whole game. I'm not sure if that's true though.
Chiefly, lack of dialogue content. (Additionally, the art style in Fable is not entirely to my liking, but that is a minor point.) Compare Fable's "There goes Chicken Chaser!" to Oblivion's "This is a travesty. A complete and utter travesty. The crystal ball is just sitting there in the hold, but I'll be damned if I'm going back on board. And nobody will help me. Nobody! Not with those spirits roaming the decks. I don't suppose you'll help me? No, of course you won't..." Regardless of the opinions of others, I do play role-playing games to read (or at least interact in a meaningful manner with NPCs). The closer a game is to a traditional pen and paper RPG experience, the more it is worthy of that genre designation. Fable is a fun adventure game, and it is definitely many steps above those shite Japanese "RPGs" that Square and Sega pumped out, but it does not compare to any major BioWare, Bethesda or vintage SSI title.
Yea that's my biggest concern. Though what I saw in the 10 minute gameplay video posted a month back didn't seem too horribly lacking. Certainly better than what we saw in Ravensword.
Everybody must check this out!!!!! http://www.slidetoplay.com/story/aralon-sword-and-shadow-hands-on-preview It shows the character creation screen and explains the first part of the game.
I've got a great idea. Have the dog follow you for help in the game. Once he has helped you complete the game and all the side quests, return him to beat the game 100%
