Asphalt 6, NOVA2, and Shadow Guardian are the only gameloft games this month. Next month is Eternal Legacy, Dungeon Hunter 2, and Starcraft.
so you redesigned the hd version so it has less detail just so 2nd gen owners can play it at the expense of us who keep up with technology and are catering to them so much youre also making a seperate version for them? Jeez even blizzard isnt that bad and starcraft 2 and diablo 3 doesnt play on '98 dual cores with a voodoo2.
nope. seperate stuff. The HD stuff is HD. The 2nd gen stuff is for 2nd gen. Its not clear whether we should release a seperate app though if we could get it all working in one. We'll see what we come up with. Stay tuned.
So, if i buy this when it comes out, i wont be able to play it on 2g? Maybe you should integrate a system where if your running old device, old graphics automatically adjust etc.
You can play it on 2g - and the graphics do automatically adjust. We've done a lot more testing on 3rd gen and 4th gen though - which is why we aren't saying its quite ready for 2g yet. We are still contemplating trying to sneak the final 2g version in there. We'll see.
gaaaah, please get 2g working for it. I'm running a 2g iPod touch and I'm dying to play this. ps - personally, a unified app (with no separate hd/sd versions) makes more sense to me - it's not storage space that's going to hold the older devices back. also, you won't be splitting your sales between apps - so you could probably get higher rankings on the sales charts. just my two cents.
Instead of "dying", you could... upgrade! Also, sales figures aren't that easy. Most of the 4G users I know of don't really enjoy games that are "universal" and are compatible with all gens. The thing is, those games sacrifice potential (due to hardware limitations) for a larger market (hence, larger fan base), which is a sin to the gaming community. So you lose out on sales from the high-end users and you lose rep, decreasing fanbase and overall sales figures for future releases. As for me, I'm on a 3G iPod with an Android phone.
Sorry bud, I've got university tuition and a deadbeat boss who still owes me a grand. Not happening till next year. I know this situation doesn't apply to everyone who runs a 2g, but it's a peeve of mine when people assume I have disposable income when I don't. As for the rest of the stuff you said, let's just say I disagree with all of it - but I'm too wiped to argue. And I'd rather play games and/or sleep.
The net cost of a 4g over a 2g is under $80, give or take. Crank down the booze and you'll have it in no time.
Keep them in the same app! I really don't want to buy 2 of the same game if I ever buy an upgraded iPod! Also, my younger brother has a newer iPod and I have the 2g (BOOOO) so I don't wanna buy 2 different apps. Also, I don't want a later release date for the 2g version because when the "HD" version is release I'll really wanna buy it!
I looked the 8gig up on ebay and it is going for 150-170. The 8gig 4th gen model retails for 229 so about 70 buck difference.
To be fair, this is true in all type of gaming electronics. So really the fact you can not afford a higher end iphone/ipod does not mean all the devs should cripple their own game for 3g. I think 3gs, at least for the non casual games, should become the new minimum. The casual games are usually the ones that sit at the top 10 anyways, so not like they'd lose that many sales. I can't afford the newer gaming consoles like PS3 and 360 but I'm not upset with Sony for not making that many PS2 games. You have to keep up with the times, and not expect every developer to lag behind for those who happen to still be using the less powerful devices.
I bought an iPhone 4 a month or so ago for £140 on same contract as my old one, sent my 3G to envirofone and got £122 for it... So basically I got the iPhone 4 for £18 ($28ish)... Dunno if the US has any phone recycling websites like that, but it's worth it if you do... Eagerly awaiting Aralon... Go apple go!
