His name explains everything. Kidding. Are we just going fully off topic, because there's nothing else to discuss until release?
Yes, we're just keeping interest alive. I for one am very much enjoying visiting this thread a couple of times a day just to keep up with the latest news and everyone else's ramblings. Its almost like the preseason excitement of sports but with a video game... Back on topic, I hope everything's going well Josh! I've been more excited about Aralon coming out than anything else that has ever been released on iOS. In fact, I haven't been this excited about a game in a couple of years on any platform...
I need to know the cost... I need to know the cost of this game now! Not trying to be a brat, but I really need to know. If you haven't decided on a price, can you please make it $8 or less? Cuz a majority of people won't buy it if it's more, and I'm saving up for other apps too. Please respond, JOSH. Thanks.
He probably won't determine his pricing off of your opinion. Most people whom have posted what they think it is worth in this thread have said they would be willing to pay $10-15. I am one of those. If they charge less than $10, I would actually be disappointed.
Umm.... shut up. I said majority of 'PEOPLE' not those on Toucharcade, and as the the app store has proved, more people buy inexpensive apps. My source is from the 'Top Grossing' apps on the app store. Now I, on the other hand, do tend to spend a lot of money on apps... but I have my doubts about this game, because Ravensword sucked, and this game is open world, but without multiplayer. So I am going to be spending money on quality apps this season, but not on a game that I am doubting, if it's more than $10. Ya digg???
Well you are just stupid, who would want to pay more for something that can be worth more, but is sold for less? And I am not cheap, I buy lots of $10 apps, but only the good ones.
A thought on pricing: I've seen some disappointment on the Infinity Blade thread about its price - some feel it's simply too cheap, and some fear it's a reflection of the game's true quality (or lack thereof). The biggest thing for a developer in determining price is "How can I make the most money?" For some high quality games, the most money might be made at lower price points. Take EA in the App store for example. Most of their games were never in the Top 10 of the Top Grossing category until they lowered the price of many quality games to $0.99. For other games, millions will buy the game anyway, regardless of price and devs can crank it up to $9.99 or higher. Dungeon Defenders looks really good and it will cost just $2.99 There are math equations for this, but my brain hurts just trying to remember them from calculus . . . ugh Regardless, this looks and sounds like a top dollar game
...I really hope you are not dilusional enough to think he will base his pricing purely off what YOU think. Also, lots of games well over the couple dollar price range have been on the top 20 even. Spiderman and MC2 come to mind, both great gameloft games. Both still seven dollars I think. This game, however, is essentially Oblivion on your friggin phone, if you want to be blunt about it. This game has MASSIVE amount of content, that will keep you playing well into the holidays and some of us well into the next year for those who do not rush through the game. 10 dollars is an absolute steal, and as someone said I have concerns over IB's lower price range. I hope it's just them being generous, and not to reflect that the game is "pretty damn beauttiful!...but ok gameplay wise." Like Rage was, all hype.
Because thats a business app, and companies buy for their employees. THEY dont care if it costs 1000 dollars. it lets people make 100000+ deals, so, you know, whatever. for us, its so exspensive almost no one will buy it, but we are not their target buyers.
$9.99 is typical for a good quality game from the App Store. Aralon is not typical, it is a industry changer and if you think I'm crazy, this is how I see it. There is no other iOS game like Aralon, some that could be comparative, but there is no game out there on any mobile device that comes close. Those who play this game will have a new standard for mobile gaming. This new level of expectations will transfer to other platforms, and I think most of us know we will compare. How satisfied will you be with a platform game if it has the same volume of content as it mobile counterpart? Aralon will stand out from the rest, so it needs a price that exemplifies it's uniqueness. I think for this game to be truly epic, it should $14.99. It's more than typical, it's better than typical and I truly believe this will be the game that gives the iPhone gaming scene the respect and attention it deserves. Also, the true fans will have no problems at all paying that. Those of us who appreciate all the work that goes into this process.
