I signed up to beta. I don't have beta experience, however, I'm a hardcore gamer. I remember getting Super Mario Bros 3 as a kid for a Birthday gift...using the whistle and realizing you could bypass the flotillas of sorts, in the dark world. Just by swimming under them. I had also beaten Oblivion and it's expansions, with almost all the gamer points...except the last part of the fighters guild quest. Never finished that quest line to completion...completed Mass Effect 1 and 2 multiple times, 100% completion in Red Dead Redemption, completed the daunting 4 discs of Lost Odyssey, and more. Gaming experiences are gaming experiences. I understand how important Aralon is, yet, if you can play a game (especially rpgs) and have eyes like a hawk for perfection, then... My fingers are crossed, I'd love to help make the game the best it could be.
Status Update from the deva please, what are you guys doing? Heres an idea: like Many people here have compared aralon to oblivion, could it not be cool to make a similar game like aralon that people could compare to fallout: new vagas? Get my drift? And the only game devs qualifyed for that task is (A's i see it) cresent Moon Or is that just the lamest idea ever? (guess what game facynates me most right now ) Well just an idea if you guys did not know what to do after aralon, ravensword 2 and ofcourse aralon 2
They are deep In beta testing now. The only question I had for Josh, other than really wanting to participate in beta (squash bugs, catch grammar, etc) If the iPad version isn't ready for beta, does that mean the iPad and iphone versions will not launch simultaneously? I also, don't want to lob insults. This might sound harsh...but some of the posts in the beta thread, by accepted beta testers, used rather improper grammar and sentence structure. That concerns me. If testers can't articulate proper sentences or use of correct words within those sentences, how could they catch errors regarding text within the game, etc?
Your English syntax is terrible. I understand you probably aren't a native English speaker. But why on Earth should you be so dismissive of others who aren't either? Do you really think you couldn't be a useful tester of games just because your English isn't perfect?
If I were dev I would cancel ravensword 2 because aralon looks like and plays like what r2 supposed to be, and there may be the aralon 2 in future so yea i agree with Kbom if we could have more futuristic title from CM games (other than ultra kid)
Corrected my sentence. Yes, I am a native English speaker. I use an iPad 99% of the time. It's not always the most able device for quick typing/editing. If, said testers, are testing non english version(s) - it would be understandable that their first language, is geared toward the version they are testing. However, for an rpg (quests rely heavily on text), I would feel confident that the testers could properly spell words. Or use them in the right context. It would be foolish to say, "This is not a legitimate concern." Ps. You really must not like thee.
hmmm...aralon isnt made by the same dev as ravensword, so that would be impossible to do in the first place. second, why would you want a game you have heard or seen nothing about to be canceled? its a good thing you arent a dev...
I have a master in English and have published a novel with a major US imprint. I think we'll be fine.
It's not a legitimate concern. Different testers are going to give feedback on different aspects of the game. Spelling and grammar are far from the most important of those, you can get those right just by having a decent localization process in the first place (and launching with a few language glitches is a lot less serious than launching with crashing bugs or balance bugs or unintended exploits---those are the things that playtesters are most important for). To say, as you seem to be saying, that one should restrict the set of playtesters to only those with complete English fluency, serves no useful purpose that I can see.
josh did mention that it might come out at $9.99 considering the massive content of this game. im not complaining, i'd say its pretty much deserved
