Yes but a point I was making was stated in the video clips I posted above. I love magic in rpg games. I just hope the sprite effects look great.
Aralon is definately at the top of my list this season...Even more so now with all the titles I was looking forward to going to rails ;(.. Keep up the good work! =)
Looks great josh keep up hard word, but i couldn't help to notice that ur forced to follow trails there, is the whole game like this where theyr's a variety of paths which you follow?
depends what area, some are wide open some are more like pathways, but you can go anywhere you want really. The new map system makes it so much easier to navigate as well.
That's just gorgeous. (get it??? GORGEous!!! [Wow I suck]) When??? xD Please know, this is a day (negative) one purchase for me. I loved Ravensword even if i felt it was a little too short and lacked replayability... Rimelands was kick-ass. seriously. THIS is gonna be AWESOME.
You're fantastic! As long as you give us little nibbles like this, it makes the wait at least, tolerable.
any chance that I could get a preview build for a super indepth inside look at the world of aralon and the team behind it? Maybe I could come visit you all in scotia?
I am still finding it hard to believe this is running on a phone, I mean it looks like Morrowind (only better in some instances). However, how big is the game? I tend to find that's the rub with iOS in that you can get some great looking games on there but they usually end up being like minigames. Although I am aware iPhone games are much cheaper than current full price titles older CRPG's like Morrowind sell for pretty cheap these days, can we expect a game with that level of depth and customization or am I dreaming?
So a game is either as big or Morrowind, or a minigame? As stated in the OP, the game will be around 30 hours long, depending on gameplay style. That's not as big as Morrowind, but it's pretty darn respectable for an iOS priced title. In any event, it's important to make a distinction between a minigame (which has intentionally limited/repetitive gameplay and is disposable by design) and a short game. The solo campaign of CoD:MW 1 an 2 will last the typical gamer 4-5 hours, and yet nobody would call those "minigames" (though they're mostly bought for their multiplayer). They have the scope, variety of gameplay, etc of a full game, just, well, concentrated. Finally, you can't compare the price of an eight year old game with that of a new one. Morrowind sold at full price when it first came out and for quite a while afterwards. The price drop came when the market was saturated: when everybody who really wanted to play Morrowind already owned a copy of it. By then Bethesda had recovered their investment and made a tidy profit, and better (or at least more technologically advanced) games were already in the market. A new game of the size and scope of Morrowind would never sell at current Morrowind prices, regardless of platform.
Aralon is NOT Morrowind. Surely it has to be the closest thing yet to it on the iOS, though. There is no other 3d rpg out there right now that has the amount of features, graphics, or gameplay that Aralon has. I think I'm pretty safe in making that statement at this time.
Its going to be like Ravensword with more detail and customization. So more similar to fable than morrowind. THe quest is similar to morrowind but the graphics are shitty (i know graphics aren't everything) and the controls are gay. That's my closure, the controls are gay.
Take a breath darling, I wasn't being critical but you are quoting me out of context. Ravensword was ****ing tiny, don't quote "iOS version of Elder Scrolls" in your marketing and then cry foul when people draw an actual comparison. Ok, another question, if the MQ is 30 hours (awesome for an iPhone game I agree) can you free-play? I never touched the MQ in Morrowind or Oblivion, I just did side quests and explored, is that available? I am going to buy it either way as I support developers who aim high on the platform but I am just curious.
People aren't being fair with Aralon and giving it's own value to stand on it's own feet. I dont think it's fair to compare it to other titles. Yes, it's hard not to do, but when people compare it to games we have played in the past, no matter how big or small, on some level we tend to expect it to be like THAT game. To truly appreciate Aralon, we have to create expectations that are based off Aralon, not expectation based off Morrowind, or another similar game. If there's disappointment in it, it needs to be from something we didn't get that we wanted, not something that we wanted from a different game, and visa-versa. If we keep comparing it to other games, Josh might as well go work on other games, if all the work he puts in for us is being sub-credited to something he has nothing to do with.
Can't see anything in my response that is breathless. You brought up minigames, not me. Ravensword was short by RPG standards. As an 3D action adventure, however, it's comparable to other titles on the platform. It's unfortunate that reviewers proclaimed it Elder Scrolls on the iPhone, and perhaps CM shouldn't quoted that line in their marketing (but then again, how could they not?). But that's besides the point. Aralon is not Ravensword: the core of the game was developed by Galoobeth, and most of the items in the feature list were in place before CM got involved in the project. From what I know of the game, the main quest is at the center of the action, but there are plenty of other missions and sidequests. I think it would be weird to skip the main quest, and I'm sure that the experience of the game would be much diminished if you did. But there's a lot more to do than just follow a storyline.
