Is pickpocketing as a rogue bugged? I don't want to go outlaw so I haven't agreed to going outlaw to pickpocket a citizen, but I'm not seeing any benefit from pickpocketing NPC humanoid enemies either (like gnolls, bandits, etc). I'm stealthy everytime I try it otherwise, how would I be able to sneak up on my target? I've never seen any message claiming success, failure, and I've never noticed a new item or additional gold in my inventory after trying to pickpocket. Has anyone playing a rogue had any actual success with pickpocketing - and if so - what is the trick to doing it properly? Also, I really suggest for *all* classes' abilities that before it goes through the animation and the "progress bar" for the spell casting or skill attempt or whatever that it FIRST tells you if you don't have enough energy, don't meet the requirements (target too far away, not behind your target, etc), and other failure messages. I may know nothing but I think it probably should be easy maybe to change the code for skill checks to first check for failure conditions before going through the progress bar and animation. Thanks. EDIT: Wanted to add that I'm really enjoying this game - its good stuff but I'll be happy for the tweaks that others have mentioned before - especially the enemy respawn distances and times between respawning, maybe a mit more randomization to where enemy's spawn at, the graphical draw distance being hopefully remedied, etc. All in all its still great fun to play this game - even in its current state...
I'm a little confused about the difficulty of enemies re: their level. At level 25 as a rogue, I can't for the life of me (heh) kill a Dark Gnome Leader who's level 26 (tried 10 times). But killing lvl 29 or 30 Rock Giants is no problem.
Boss guys have a lot more life and a higher attack than their weaker mob counterparts. Just so you know.
I played through the game as a rogue, and never once used pickpocketing. I have it leveled all the way, but I've always had enough gold to buy anything I needed at the shops. I do enjoy the rogues stealth ability though. It's great fun sneaking up behind an enemy with stealth, then using backstab, then thighcut to finish them off. Top it off with poisoned dual wielding swords and I can kill almost anything before they come out of the stun now.
Post update: I suggest you finish swapping out the stolen icons. Thigh Cut and the Apply Poison skills are all still using "borrowed" art.
There is still a lot of copied icons even after the update. I think they only had time to take care of a couple of them before they wanted to get the update into Apple and are currently reviewing all of them (or should be anyway).
Aside from multiplayer co op or arena matches, the only one I can think of is some form of save game syncing. -edit ah, skill synergies! If I have a fire or ice skill I want the next similar spell to give percentage bonuses to numeric effects. Even if it's 1% a rank in similar elements Or moves I think it'd make a huge difference: a pure ice skill tree should be more powerful than a fire or mixed skill Mage in ice spell usage, and less so in other skills and spells
The last update was focused on quick bug fixes that made the game playable for people crashing before. Josh is making new icons himself though I think.
As a graphic designer, I fully endorse borrowing images and repurposing them. But the trick is to grab things that aren't recognizable, then running them through enough "filters" that they're legally distinct from the original graphical asset. Grabbing screenshots of old movies and paintings (ideally public domain) is a great place to start. Run a Live Trace in Illustrator or a Surface Blur in PS with some palette shifting, layer a few other elements into the image, and you're good to go.
quest bug my game keeps freezing on the quests A Meeting Disrupted. is anyone else having this problem? if so are there any fixes out there?
Guild quest and Quest from Luther When I try accepting a quest from Luther, the quest isn't actually accepted and put into the quests tab. Instead, I keep on talking to him and accepting the quest. Also, when I talk to the guy upstairs in one of the guilds, the same thing happens. By the way, I am using an iPad. Oh and I have updated to the newest version. loving the game!
deadclown - I've followed these Aralon threads very faithfully for the last few months and my understanding is that CM hired a contractor to create the icons used in Aralon. And it looks like this icon "artist" copied a bit too closely the icons used in games that nobody at CM or Galoobeth Games were very familiar with (Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, etc). Seems like this guy they hired ripped them off with shoddy copycat work. So it does not sound to me like Galoobeth or CM are trying to defend what happened and this being a small development shop it looks like they were not honestly aware of this plagarism until several people started pointing it out once the game was released. So that's what seems to be going on... Actually, I like the two icons that Josh made up (for stealth and ambush) in update 2.12 better than the original icons. I'm hoping that we'll actually end up with better skill icons in the end as a result of this, but it really sucks to CM or Galoobeth that this happened to begin with. @Paradiso: Yep.
Fire Elemental Life Hey! First, I love this game. It's better than I expected. But of course it's not perfect. The targeting system is frustrating sometimes. Especially for me since I'm a Mage and I use the pet Fire Elemental skill and I lost count how many times I used Ice Bolt or any other skill on him. And after the monster is dead I really have trouble targeting the dead body to loot since my target is always my pet, haha. So I hope you guys can improve that. And my other problem also involves my pet. It's not really a problem, but I'd like to be able to do this. Could you guys make the health bar of the pet always on screen? It would be really helpful. Thanks ;D That's my feedback.
Been thinking about this on the way in to work this morning (in the snow and ice!) 1: Tap to select targets, items, chests, corpses etc. 2: Please could we have an option in first person view for standard controls? i.e. the same as in 3rd person. At the moment you are using standard fps controls (so the d-pad is for strafing) which aren't necessary for this type of game. Swapping from 3rd to first person is currently quite disorientating when the controls change too! It would make the game MUCH more playable in first person. (first person is my favourite viewpoint - nothing like seeing the orcs up close and personal) 3. Along with that we really need the option to switch between viewpoints without quitting the game first! Thanks for listening!
This is one of the few iOS games I can't put down, you can see the care they put into every aspect. I get a distinct Elderscrolls vibe from it, and not just because they used the Daedric font on the road signs Three things I'd love to see though, Please, please, please raise the first-person camera up a bit so you are at eye level with NPCs, right now it looks like the camera is about belly high making you feel incredibly short. Second, adding a bit of "head bob" to the first person view would help a lot. And lastly, customizable d-pad location would be awesome. Aside from that it's great, you guys have made a gem of a game and I'm loving every minute of it. Thank you! P.S. I'm also digging the cloud based save-game idea!
