I haven't read through all the posts so I apologise if I have mentioned something that someone already has:

Ideas for things I'd like to win:

- Gift cards for sure are great
- Subscriptions to your personal choice of magazine
- Gaming merchandise, e.g. T-shirts, mugs, quilt covers?? lol
- iDevice accessories, e.g. cases, speakers, headphones
- If you're feeling extra generous, any iDevice of choice

Things AppAsia could do to improve Touch Arcade

- One idea is to have the BB code list found here somewhere more visible and stickied. This would make it much easier for new users of TA to make good posts
- Currently, TA only posts its own reviews on the home page. An idea would be for the TA staff to reward some of the high quality user reviews and share on the front page also
- In addition, I would love to see an extra 'average user rating' in each review beside TA's rating
- Advertise TA's facebook page more (less than 3000 likes??). I think more people will like the page if rather than posting just links to the website, to write a brief description that encapsulates the main points, and then linking to the website to read the full story. Also, regular updates on price drops would be great!
- Encourage more game developers to be active amongst the forums to promote discussion of a game and listen to our suggestions. Tying in with this, contact the game developer each time a post (upcoming, when it's out, price drop etc) is made about their game so that they know we are interested and talking about it

Ideas for possible events

I love games and contests to win stuff
Some ideas are:
- Creating a name for a yet to be released game
- Naming characters in new games
- Trivia nights questioning anything and everything related to apps/games etc
- High score contests would be another great way to get us more involved. Rewarding the high scorer(s) would obvious encourage users to engage with the game more. Note, could split it up into different timezones groups so that us Aussies can participate at a healthy hour

How to get us more involved

- Having more contests and opportunities like this one! Thanks AppAsia!
- I'd love to see more contests where winners are actually carefully chosen rather than randomly selected. e.g. for users asked to write reviews, it would be unfair to those who actually spent time playing or using the app and writing a proper review as compared with those who use the app for a couple of minutes and write a review based on initial impressions
- More prizes More people will be willing to participate if more prizes on offer (why this thread has been so popular )

 

IDEAS for POSSIBLE EVENTS:

*"Simon says" e.g., take a picture where there are lots of people while doing something or holding something or making a unique pose and then posting said picture in here/FB/twitter.
*"True or False" make a statement or question about your app/s that is answerable by True or False and those who answered correctly will be eligible to a random pick/raffle.
*"Popularity Contest" those who gets the most share/like/retweet will win.
*"Guess the game" well yes..it's a guessing game where you just give three to five clues which consist of only one word per clue

I think that you should hold more beta testing events; I have been extremely pleased by the ones I've been accepted to so far. You should also hold lots more competitions, they are very popular with users of touchArcade.

I think that some prizes you could offer should be iTunes Gift Cards, Promo Codes, iPod Touches, and iPads. I think that another neat prize that you could offer is a chance to win a guaranteed spot to beta test an upcoming game promoted by AppsAsia.

Like other members recommended, I think that it would be a great idea to have high score contests for various apps. Some other ideas that I have for contests include photo contests, where members/fans submit their best pictures (including an AppsAsia or TouchArcade logo or other various image) and guessing contests (like hangman, where you have to guess a mystery word, such as a new app that you are promoting, after given a clue or where you guess the amount of certain items in an image). You could also hold trivia contests, the first person to reply to a trivia question (about touchArcade or AppsAsia) wins a prize.

As i could see TA is a growing online community. Some sudggestions would be having a mobile version of the forums. Its kindda hard to keep zooming in and out to click links or write comments. For me giving out apple gadgets would be awesome but i would rather have a chance to win top rated apps like IB 2 as weekly or daily prizes if possible. Also how about making various types of contest would be a good way to get more people involved. Everyone has their own fav app on their device and making different types of games, contests, or such for those apps would be a great. Hope i'm making sense here. Haha. Lastly it would also be nice if more attention was given to indie games or apps and beta testing. I've several indie games/apps that has so much potential becoming a top rated app. Advertising or promoting them would really be nice and about beta testing well if more people were to try out the games before the release could be a good way to get feedbacks, bug reports, or such much faster so when the app comes out it would pretty much live up to what people would expect from their app. Then again, i hope i'm making sense here. Thanks for giving people a chance to speak up and share their opinions. More power to TA and APPASIA

Member Avatars (as long as it was decent)
I would suggest making a criteria to join such as mandatory twitter following or liking of the Facebook page before joining and restrict full access till a member posted a couple of times (this is mostly for lurkers)
Its like a popular club, you have to follow the dress code to get in
One thing you could have an Indie app section
Have a weekly Hidden gem edition where you spotlight an app that's great but didn't get that much attention I found some great games by accident here in the forums that I didn't even know existed
One major improvement is to screen so called devs or people who hold contests asking for reviews, we don't need another (Mission Sirius) fake contest

Events/Contests
I say have signature contests where we would have to write a promo for an upcoming app and keep it as our signature till a week after the app launched
Have a TA is better than twitter contest "Toucharcade is better than__________ because ________" people could come up with all kinds of little slogans and the winner could have a T-shirt printed with their quote along with whatever prize was given

Get us more involved
Have a "Know Your Members" section and ask some of the senor members to post stuff about themselves (job, favorite games, age, how long they been on TA and why they stay) there's a lot of really cool people here on TA and this would show new people how diverse we really are
Have a what's Bugging me section where members could talk about what problems there having with a game
Pick a member and post his/her review of a game on the main page
No more random contests where I can write "me likey" and win I try to avoid them it's not fair to the people who really liked an app took the time to say so.I know it's hard to pick a winner sometimes because we have some passionate members here, also no more posting of reviews, people mostly lurkers just plain copy and paste everything

Hey! You guys are a great site, I always check up on this site everyday to check on App Reviews before buying games and to learn more about new upcoming games to be all hyped up about. To me you guys are the most dependable site for any Apple gamers out there. I would like to win the new Ipad.

For events, you guys should have more trivia games in which randomly selected winners who guessed the correct answer will be awarded with accessories for their IOS devices like new Iphone, Ipad, Ipod Touch Cases or Headphones that can add more fun to our experience. I mean its actually much nicer that we get awarded something else besides giftcards, cause it adds more value and surprise elements to it and you can proudly say "I won this from TouchArcade."

To further improve this site, I would suggest having a TouchArcade app, since this site is so awesome we totally need an app for this, that's one click away to get the feed and the news of games and apps, and one click closer to the forums.

To get more members involved, Twitter will totally help this site up, by simple tweets on games, news, and definitely other things that involve Touch Arcade, so people can just write simple messages to further promote this site and to get more people involved.

What you can improve in TouchArcade:
- Let people post signature pictures that requires certain amount of picture size
- Have a separate trailer section for all the upcoming game releases, gameplays, and popular games on the main TA site.
- Have senior members have unique privileges from other members like able to have avatar next to their name
- When the thread is popular, have some kind of special symbol next to the thread topic to let others know that the topic is "hot topic".

Special contests and events:
- Have a monthly contest for drawings of their favorite characters/things from their favorite app game
- Have an event where the developer posts one of the gameplay screenshot, and people have to answer which game the screenshot is from. The person who answers can win one of the game or other prizes from the dev.
- Have user-movie contest where members can make their own videos about their favorite games/trailers/developers and post it. The winner can win any of the prizes that I've mentioned on the prize section

Getting people involved:
- Have a separate forum for where people who are trying to make an app game can ask other devs about design questions and problem solving, since this site is popular for both the app gamers and designers.
- Always let people know about the upcoming events and contests. I think we should have a separate section that is dedicated to talk about any events/contests in TouchArcade.
- Have saparate section for beta-testing! Some members seems to miss out about the upcoming beta tests, because some upcoming iphone/ipod/ipad games forum sections are hammered with so many topics, some members do miss out on particular game beta test topics
