Do you frequently not purchase an app because it is too big? I have 1gb left on my mini, and nothing on it that I want to delete. I have really started to look at app size before downloading.

Strangely enough, the biggest app on my mini is a casino slots game. It is over a gig, but it has over 100 different games, maybe even over 200. Every new update adds about 8 mb.... And they seem to update every week with at least one new game.... I am close to deleting it, even though I enjoy playing it before bed.

I often dont download huge games as i have so many games already on my iphone and like you i dont want to delete stuff to make room

To be fair its a bit crazy, i could just download the game again or download a video from dropbox instead of keeping it on my machine.

I've recently gone through and cleared up a fair bit and now i've got 3 gig free. Going through all my installed games some apps were using a lot of space, eg Facebook had 150 meg extra ! Deleting that and re-installing that freed up that space. Same for twitter which gets larger and larger.

I go away a lot so i love knowing i've got so many apps/books/music/films/comics on my device so i am a horder !

I'm enjoying a lot of great optimised games, eg Goblin Sword is a tiny filesize whereas other platformers such as Fancy Pants are pretty huge

thank you apple for the new 128gb iphones then :)

i personally don't get attached to app for quite some time..

most of the are like a bad cheap snack you don't mind throwing away half eaten. (which may sounds harsher than it is)

i just recently wiped like 20 apps from my ipad i've downloaded the last couple month and never even started. Chances are high i'll never start them.
Its already a small chance that i even finish a story related game, but then i suppose i stoped trying "everything" and just play "thoose few" games regular.

from a developer perspective of course you want to have your app as small as possible. Do you need that hundred megabyte intro really in your app bundle, can't you just stream it ? do you need to put hundreds of pngs into your app instead of optimizing them into pvr textures. etc. etc.

smaller is always better, for the initial download, up to updates and whatnot.
If your app is very big chances are high its on the top "to delete" list if something more interesting comes along. Smaller apps tend to lurke for quite some time on your device because you don't mind their small footprint, maybe even starting them from time to time.

I have a 32gb ipad and tbh I really don't care about the size of the installs.

I'd rather have a full game that takes up 3-4gb than one that's only 500mb and has had things cut from it. (Looking at you Dragon quest VIII)

PSJ, the thing is, I don't have many games.... I have mostly apps that I actually use. I almost never have more than 10 games at a time on my mini.

Plus, there are times that I actually DJ from my iPad. I keep about 500 songs on it. ( mostly as an emergency backup for my main DJ computers )

Within reason, there's no real limit to how large an app size can be. If I really want it, I'll make the space probably up to a couple of GB.

However, any Apps over 200-300MB don't stick around for long - the moment I stop playing them regularly, they get deleted to make space.

Anything approaching 750mb is cause for concern since I only have a 16gb iPad. That 750mb usually unpacks well over 1gb when installed. A application needs to be amazing in all elements for me to keep it on my device since I'm always wary about space. I bought some games that were over 1gb and enjoyed them but have since deleted cause they did not blow me away. With the new iOS taking up a bit more space I would like Apple to drop the 16gb next go around and make 32gb the new bottom with the 16gb price.
