I have been in touch with the developer. I will tell you that he is committed to making iComposer a beneficial application for musicians, and that he plans to continue to refine and expand his application. I personally have been working with iComposer for several days. While I am planning on posting a video and a more comprehensive review in a few days, here is my initial feedback: I can hum a tune that is rumbling about in my head and iComposer captures it. Need I say more? You have a mobile track editor. Yes there are some little nuances that you need to master to use it, but I think my video will help in that area. The documentation on the developers site is being expanded daily. Just yesterday he posted instructions on how to transfer MIDI files to your PC. You have eight tracks to work with for an iDevice app, which just blows my mind. All said this is one seriously cool app. I will attempt to cover everything that iComposer offers in my video so that you can see for yourself while you wait for the lite and free versions that the developer has promised.
Great! I'm looking forward to your video and to the possibility of purchasing this app. My problem is that I can't sing well so I'm hoping that this will have the features necessary to correct my occasional (ha) bad notes.
Can you write music without the singing? Could I have 3 staves, one g clef and F clef staves? As I'll be writing organ music, humming or singing is not going to make for me. I would just like to use it as pocket sibelius or finale. I am sorry for asking you many questions, but I am really interested in this app and I just want to know if is it what I need. thanks
You can write music without humming through manual entry, or you can use a combination of the two, humming and manual entry. Presently, you can have up to 8 staffs. They can be any combination of G an F staffs. I will try to post some screenshots in the next day or so that cover some of the functionality of iComposer not shown in App Store.
It exports in MIDI format. You can then manually transfer the file to your desktop. There are instructions for doing so under Windows on the developer's site. I believe that he is working on instructions for the Mac as well. The developer has told me that a future version of iComposer will include the capability to export and transfer files via a website.
Thank you ivforlife! Hi everyone, I am the developer of iComposer. I am here to thank ivforlive, he helped me so much. And, if you have more questions, I will be glad to answer you here.
I purchased iComposer and have begun to learn it. My first impressions are very good. My iPhone mic is messed up, sometimes it works and most times it doesn't but the earbuds/mic that came with the iPhone work fine. I will keep my fellow iphone app musicians here posted.
Yes, I will post more screenshots on my blog, but I need a little more time before I process those screenshots. Because a critical bug was found in the notes recognition module and several other bugs were found in accidentals usage, I think I have to fix them at first. I am sorry for slow progress, my time is so limited. Whatever, several weeks later, we can have a better iComposer and its lite version, then you can try lite version first. For .mus format, currently I have no idea about it, but if most of your guys need it, I can add it, its priority depends on its importance for you. Thanks.
Thank you for your purchase, There are several identified bugs in iComposer 1.0.0, hopefully they will be fixed in the version 1.0.2. So if the auto-transcribed notes are not right, it's my fault and your singing are correct
Here's a little sample of a quick iComposer test. Remember .... I can't sing so I'm pretty impressed that the app could make out what I was humming .... but it did .... at least I think so. http://12elemental.com/page2/files/page2-1000-pop.html
iComposer is moving on Hi all, I'm the dev of iComposer. During the last week, I have received so many feedbacks and great suggestions from your guys. I’d like to thank you all. Now have a long todo list. After prioritized all tasks on the list, I think I need 2 or 3 more weeks to solve some important problems, then I can release version 1.0.2 and lite versions. So, for people who have already downloaded iComposer, I assure you a better and better music app, I wouldn’t stop improving iComposer. For people who have intention to download iComposer or want to try lite versions, please still have your eyes on iComposer update news and wait for several weeks, I hope you will enjoy it. Special thanks for my friend ivforlife, he has taught me so many things and given me many valuable advices, he is such a selfless mentor for me.
Thank you marlenedegrood, your sample is great, it's a slow variation of twinkle twinkle little star, isn't it?
Yep .... and I can't tell you enough how much I'm loving this app. Thank you for your commitment to making this even better.
I'm thinking about picking this up. It sounds great, and really useful, but I make most of my music in a DAW. Thus, I don't see much music on staves much! Piano roll FTW!
Anyone got any cool music apps lately? I've gotten a few such as Motion Piano, EnsoBell and Akimba (another Kalimba app). Always looking for anything out of the box. I've started a new website for mostly music apps that I will post when it gets more content.
nice interface from watching the vid BUT for that price and the spectacularly orginal (ie appalling) 8bit sound i think i'll give it a miss !
