    Finally picked up an iPad for our daughter for Christmas, and I see that Tabletop is still a buck - are the included bits worth it? Or is it mostly an IAP money grab?

    Native Instruments 'iMaschine' (Beat Sketchpad) $4.99 -> $1.99

    I am not the dev—just passing the info:

    App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.

    Bought it (without IAPs) and it sounds just great (tested on iPhone 4 with Sennheiser and AKG headphones). Runs fine on iPad 2 as well (although not a native iPad app) in 2x view mode.

    Look at the dev's website for tutorial videos, sound demos and forums.

    Mobile Music Workstation 'BeatMaker 2' (Universal-App) $19.99 -> $9.99

    App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.

    Second sale like this, the first one in May lasted five days. From their website: "BeatMaker 2 is available for only $9.99 during Thanksgiving and Black Friday only!" The app was published in Feb 2011.

    'iSequence HD' for iPad $14.99 -> $2.99

    App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.

    All-time best price for the first time. Published in May 2010, eight updates, the last one a month ago. There is an iPhone version (no sale) and a free iPhone Lite version. Additional instruments via In-App Purchase (bought the Trance sounds). Sounds great!

    By the same dev like Sunrizer Synth which is on sale as well (both iPhone and iPad versions).

    algoriddim's djay: iPad app 50 % sale

    App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.

    Highly recommended! Second sale since Dec 2010. Extremely fast on iPad 2. The iPhone version is always $.99—not only an amazing deejay tool (w auto beat matching) but simply the best iTunes music player.

    honestly, forget it.

    the Synths are mediocre at best the FX are bad. Seriously this must have the most bad Filter I have EVER heard and the actually useful stuff is too expensive.

    If you have BM2 you don´t need this ever.

    "great lil noisemaker! do like." -- @deadmau5 "This app is great." ... "who needs an arp when you have #glitchmachine" -- @DjAero Glitch Machine is a generative music synthesizer. Expressions are edited live to produce sound interactively. The magic of Glitch Machine's synthesis is in the BYTE, which wraps a final output value to a number between 0 - 255. The repeating patterns (or chaos) of this 'wrapping' produces waveforms and beats. Features: - Interactive, live code editing, code line muting - Waveform and data visualizations - Live performance features such as XY pads, sliders, and code preset triggers - Fast-forward, rewind, pause, and single-step through your expression's waveform - 100 levels of undo/redo - Saved custom sessions - Expression sharing via email and Twitter - WAV export to iTunes - Save and load expressions - Supports all device orientations - Configurable theme

    I'm super tired right now, but I will pop in later tomorrow and talk more about it, heh.

    EDIT:

    Here's a video that nyarlu made earlier during testing, which demonstrates a bit of the livecoding behaviour:

    Looks like Amidio has done away with a number of their older apps - iHolophone, Touch DJ2, Piano Pro, Hexatone... all been replaced with new apps. The old ones seem to still work, but are not up on the App store - how often does Amidio throw out the old, and replace with new? Their apps are not cheap, and if they are replacing them every year - perhaps better to go with a more stable company? I am just a hobbyist - so I don't need the latest and greatest - but I got Touch DJ 2 just a few months ago and it is no longer on the app store, and getting the new DJ app - I can re-purchase the stuff that I bought for 10 bucks for 3... I guess that is a bargain?

    must admit i've also given up on Amidio.
    There general aim seems to be sell high, never update.

    There are a lot more impressive companies about on the app store, and i will give them my money in future instead :)

    WOW! WOW! WOW! Great news! The same happened to Korg's iKaossilator one week ago (btw 50% sale lasts until end of Dec).

    Folks, this is where iOS really shines! Since years now. ALL other mobile OS are FAR behind.

    NanoStudio is one of the best music apps out there and the new Universal version makes it even easier to use. There is less flipping to various screens.

    OK, I've had some time to play with Rockmate, and it doesn't offer much for a serious musician, but I'm having fun with it. It's on the iPad my daughter is getting for Christmas, and is definitely going to be a better app for her than for me.

    Multiplayer jamming is what this app is all about, two guitars, drums and a keyboard. Keyboard has organs/piano/synths, guitars have a handful of sounds as do the drums (which are probably the most fun to play.) Keyboard is too limited with no octave scrolling and not even a full octave. Guitars have a few effects, can instantly play a chord, or you can play it. Problem with them is that the chord selection buttons on Guitar 1 + 2 are tied together, which does let you coordinate chords, but it would be better if they were not linked.

    Fun to play with, but most people will probably want to pass on this.

    Tried it and it's mono. Since it's a "portable open source (BSD License) application" (according to dev's homepage) there is hope that we'll see more sound packs in future.

    More demo videos @ dev's homepage!

    Has anyone downloaded the IAP for Guitar Toolkit (Toolkit+)? If so, how is it? Chord sheets seem like they would useful and the advanced metronome with drum machine would be nice. Not sure if those two things, depending on how well they're done, are worth the $4.99 add on. I have a Touch, so the metronome part isn't even out yet for that. I would hope if I bought it now, I would get that when it comes out.
