Any improvements to the UI? That (and the fact that it's not universal) as so far kept me from buying it so far...

    ReBirth for iPad

No. User interface is the same as before the recent update (with additional WIST settings/dialogs of course when it establishes connection) as far as I can see. What are you missing btw? Okay, controls maybe have to got used a bit… Universal would be fine but I almost can't imagine how to control that knobs- and switches-loaded monster on a small screen (never owned the iPhone version).

Owning ReBirth 1.0 (very first CD version) since my early PC days. More some kind of tradition than actually using it much. But now with the added functions and some cool mods maybe more…

The list with AudioCopy enabled apps (counted 60+ within a list provided inside ReBirth for iPad; 30+ with copy AND paste) is pretty impressive in the meantime btw.

Great thread! Learned a lot here. Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up! Bought it, played around for a while with the TONS of presets and they all sound AWESOME and very modern! Will make ringtones with "Tell a tale" and "Talking to me?" (FX section) as soon as possible. Impressive what comes out of my little iPhone 4. Nice how you can swipe the keyboard while pressing a key (you can also choose from three key sizes).

Tested with AKG K 501 headphones and Sennheiser iP 50 headset, sounds really great polyphonic stereo.

App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.

Have a look at the manual PDF (for iPad version).

Rebirth has dropped in price to $7.99 for the iPad version. I'm pretty sure I am going to pick it up. One question. Does anyone know if you can tap to get a tempo? I want to use it for live performance and would like to match the tempo of the rest of the band.

Any recommendations on fun iPad music tools for a casual user to throw together some songs? I've been considering the Korg iMS-20, Rebirth and Nanostudio - any thoughts?

NanoStudio continues to be my #1 music app - iPad support coming soon...

iMS-20 is a blast as well.

ReBirth is great on the PC, but I haven't played with the iOS versions.

Rhythm Studio continues to be fun if you want to do things the 'hardware way'... (And it covers some of what ReBirth can do...)

Ims 20 is'nt really "casual" tho, unless you really know how to program a modular synthesizer and use a rly awkward sequencer.

Rebirth works rly good on the iPad, dunno how it is on the iPhone/iPod tho.

Nano studio is a more complete package with both synth, sampler, fx and a proper sequencer al'a cubase etc.

Thanks for the input! I enjoyed the Korg DS-10 on the Nintendo DS which is what caused me to consider the iMS-20. Sounds like NanoStudio might be a good option if I wanted one music app to rule them all.

For casual, I would also recommend Nanostudio. It has the greatest sound capabilities and is easy to use. There is no iPad version yet, though it is planned. But it still is nice to use on the iPad. In fact, I forget it's in 2X mode. There is a free download of Nanostudio for Mac/Windows. I downloaded it, played around with it over a weekend and had a total blast. Try it out first and see if it's what you are looking for. Keep in mind, the demo is from an older build, so there are many improvements in the iOS version over the demo.

I do not consider the IMS-20 casual at all, though if you're familiar with the DS-10, maybe using the IMS-20 will be straightforward. I have not used the DS-10 though, so I don't really know their differences. The IMS-20 is a lot of fun, though. I just used it last week as the soundtrack for a hula-hoop performance my daughter was giving us.

I'm just about to buy Rebirth for iPad. I was actually just checking this thread to see if there were any responses or comments regarding my earlier post about Rebirth.

Yep! Got Rebirth. Having quite some fun with it. I do recommend getting it while on sale. The great news is, I don't see it replacing Rhythm Studio. I actually find the drums sound cleaner in Rhythm Studio and more how I like my unprocessed 808 sounds.

It is indeed, soup. I've been using Sunrizer more than anything lately, but Arctic has real potental too. You can really get in there to tweak your sounds, with a slew of knobs and fx, making some insane analog mash-ups. Even the patch bay is loaded with great, unique sounds, easily accessible with categories and tagged search. It's got WIST, audicopy, and a seemingly robust midi section. Some of the interface is a bit wonky, but overall, I certainly think it's worth the price of admission.
