Garage Band rocks There are many great apps for musicians on the App Store, but I found the best are Apple's Garage Band and some recording app from Sonoma Wireworks. For Garage Band, I think Apple has packed the features of about 10 apps into it. Totally awesome and worth the money. Cheers
TNR-i Game Center support has been fixed! Xenon and Argon both now have core MIDI and SynthStation25 support!
Alex, The only app I know of is "Symphony Pro" by Xenon Labs. I have not used it myself, but it is on my wishlist. The website: http://www.symphonypro.net/
I've used Symphony (but not much) and it seemed OK. (I do most of my composition on iOS in Nano Studio ) I also see iComposer which has a free version you might try out.
I'm not sure why I never looked at Xenon Groove Synthesizr, but I've been looking into it this weekend. I am interested in knowing how you record the synth parts. Can you input through playing keys or is it all grid-based input? And is it only one measure of input at a time? Thanks for any info.
Falling Stars This is one of the best, free generative music apps you will find. The fact that it is sponsored by Trident blows my mind and actually makes me want to buy their gum, just to support their efforts. I highly recommend giving this a try. App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.
If you have not noticed now: Amidio Touch DJ 2 is on SALE for $1 !!!!! YES! http://itunes.apple.com/de/app/touch-dj-2/id331738583?mt=8 I also checked out the new TableTop modular Production http://itunes.apple.com/de/app/tabletop/id436080882?mt=8 they have a promotional $5 sale with $50 of IAP Modules included!!! So if you are only slightly interested -get it! It´already worth fat more than $5 There are still like $30 more IAP for Audio FX in there, though. One of the hardest to swallow is the 4 Channel mixer with 2 Send/returns for $10. I can live without the FX.
hey guys. quick nanostudio question. for some reason, when i mixdown and upload to soundcloud my projects sometimes seem to sound substantially different. up until this point mostly it's just required some trial-and-error mixing to get what i want, but this time it's completely changed the texture of one of the eden synth tracks. at this point i don't even really know how to research the problem. just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue or has at least heard of such things.
How is Tabletop? I was highly excited about it, but I have heard it crackles/pops on iPad 1. How are the sounds? Does it come with drum sounds already?
Ohhh tempting as the IAP is actually really useful. Still wondering about iPad1 crackling. Thanks soup for pointing this out. I hadn't yet read this anywhere else. After playing around with the Windows version of NanoStudio this weekend, I was really blown away by its capabilities so hope to buy it sometime this week when I have some time to really sit down with it.
I found a thread on a site where an iPad 1 user was not having problems. But it does sound like there may be a problem. A Retronyms rep responded with a support e-mail address and suggusted the standard to remove all running apps and reboot. I was glad to see the company respond which makes me hope they are trying to help out. My big question is how are the standard sounds? Drums? Synth? But since I am about to get NanoStudio, I am not currently drawn to TableTop. Though for $5 it's tempting. Actually, the thing I really find exciting about TableTop is WIST so I can sync with the terrific iMS-20. That would be fun.
Yes Retronyms are listening. That´s cool. As for the sounds, putting your own samples is better. What I don´t like is that the overall output level is quite low compared to other apps. Most people seem to agree that the included sample instruments are not the shizz. I might says they are not extrodinary but but quite usable. BTW: You can only WIST sync with BlueTooth to another iTouch, so for the iMS-20 you need another iPad
dyscode, thanks for the information. It does not sound like TableTop is the right thing for me at this time. That was very helpful. I am looking for new sounds and the ability to produce new sounds for on stage. I am waiting for iRig's SampleTank as I'm hoping that will fill the area of acoustic/sampled sounds for me, as I already have enough analog synthesis apps for the iPad. Right now, we are looking at trying to get as many sound options as possible so we have a variety of sound palettes to work from. I already have hardware keyboards/racks, but I really like how I can produce sounds anywhere with the iPad. I want to start focusing on sound creation with the iPad. > BTW: You can only WIST sync with BlueTooth to another iTouch, > so for the iMS-20 you need another iPad Yes. My wife and I both have iPads.
