Sometimes I notice that when I connect my iPod to iTunes the bar at the bottom that shows the space taken up/free constantly varies the "Apps" and "Other". Sometimes I get 1.5gb of apps with another GB of Other stuff, now I have 2.4gb of apps and just 21mb of Other stuff. Why is it always chaging?
Are you jailbroken? Jailbroken apps and data are categorized under 'Other'. Also I believe it is the category for the default apps, OS, and back-up data (games saves, contact list, sms threads, calendar, etc.). Might even be used for cache with safari though i'm not sure. edit: actually think I missed your point that happens to me too. for instance i have 4 gb of apps (green bar), and 1 gb of other (orange bar)), sometimes the other bar will be 5gb and the apps bar will be empty. I'm not sure why it happens but syncing or unplugging and plugging back in make it go back to normal.
