I am totally with Phoenix on this. If you don't like what's free today, quit moaning and come back an look tomorrow. Apple owes you nothing. Remember it says '12 days of Gifts'. Doesn't say '12 days of all those top games you have been wanton but are to tight to buy your self'. Or even '12 days of paid content reduced to free'. Also I believe that tiny thief was reduced for the holidays, so either they didn't know they were going to be featured, or they forgot to tell apple they were goig on sale. Either way it's a good freebie, so quit whinging.
Let me explain how this works. Apple made a deal with devs/publishers/content owners to make their product free in some regions for one day. Some product owners made that content free in more than one region and/or for more than one day. That doesn't mean you're getting a raw deal. That means you are getting a better deal, or at least more chance of getting the deal. Most users of the 12 Days app won't have seen the game's price dropped a few days earlier, or care. Tiny Thief is not normally free. It is a paid game that many people got for free as a result of the deal with Apple, even if they didn't all realise that when they downloaded it.
Tiny Thief price history: $US Dec 28 '13 Free -> $2.99 Dec 21 '13 $2.99 -> Free Dec 19 '13 Version 1.1.0 Aug 05 '13 $.99 -> $2.99 Aug 01 '13 $2.99 -> $.99 Jul 11 '13 New App: $2.99, v1.0.0
Is it "to own" or a rental? I'm guessing the latter as that's become the norm the last couple of years.
https://itunes.apple.com/movie/id432820032 Wikipedia: Home Alone Home Alone is a 1990 American Christmas family comedy film written and produced by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus. The film stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy who is mistakenly left behind when his family flies to Paris for their Christmas vacation. Kevin initially relishes being home alone, but soon has to contend with two would-be burglars played by Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci. The film also features Catherine O'Hara and John Heard as Kevin's parents. As of 2009, Home Alone was the highest-grossing comedy of all time. It spawned a successful franchise, with four sequels and three video games, with the main cast reprising their roles for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Was $14.99 before.
Last years movies (I forget them now) were only rentals. I think it was the same the year before too. Otherwise I'd have them. Three years back I got Bandslam from the Canadian store. Still have it downloaded, although it appears this has a different ID to the one currently on sale as I can't re-download it (or upgrade it to 1080p).
After midnight tonight. It's the freebie for Day 5, Dec. 30th, which is tomorrow as of now. I added dates to the first post with the list, to help people keep track more easily.
I'd like to thank everyone who has posted in this thread stating what their country received as the freebie that day. That's really helped! And I'd especially like to thank Red1 for helping me to keep the list on the first post up to date with that information as well as his own! I got it and I replied. What rohirrim is looking for is a list of what the freebies have been in Turkey. If anyone has been keeping track of that, please PM him, as I don't have the information he's looking for.
Home alone is an alright gift, but if rather a rental.. I don't want 4 gigs of space wasted on a movie I could probably just watch on YouTube, that ill probably never watch anyway.. But good on apple for finally offering something that wasn't already free!
