If you don't stop spamming that list in every thread you're going on an all expense paid vacation to somewhere other than the TouchArcade forums for a while!
wikoogle, totally according to you. What made me disappointed the most is Steve Jobs saying "how we're going to fill this space". First I thought "do we really need one more device to fill that space???" Why don't you just make a better iPhone? I don't feel like to bring one more device with me. Yeah, right... ONE MORE. I can't call and take photos with this iPad. I can't use Photoshop, Open Office, update my website with this iPad! If I'm travelling from Tokyo to San Francisco, then I want to bring my Mac and my iPhone. The iPad is just a thing I want to get rid off. I mean, it's 2010! We're trying to bring less stuff with us, don't we? Why did Apple create the iPhone? Because it has a lot of stuff on it! What are they doing now? They want us to bring more stuff with us. For what? For watching videos and reading ebooks. Oh, come on... it's just a nice eBook player.
Steve took a big jab at netbooks. Ever since the release of Windows 7, I feel there have been many noteworthy netbooks released. I mean come on. No USB, no flash player, no sort of tactile feedback while typing, webcam, external display hookup, and no ability to download files.. I've typed nearly all of my papers for the past 3 months on my netbook with ease. I'll stick with the iPod touch
Let's ask our necks what they think about watching an entire movie on an airplane on iPad. Did I miss the part where they said Apple is going to install an iPad dock on airplanes?
I think released too little information for the hype. Everyone was expecting something more Like a computer, not a big iPod. I hope that's something they change because I'll be holding off till the next generation.
I know it doesn't have a lot of features that everyone wants but I can see myself sitting on the couch and surfing on the iPad instead of my iPhone. Oh my games will work on the iPad too? Why not. It'll save my iPhones battery.
And as it stands I'm sure it will be great for that. But i would like to transition from that to typing an essay and hooking it up to the printer. Or working on photoshop for some projects. I think simply adding a USB port could have made this 100 times better.
Do some you think the iPad could be a flop? I feel many people are very perplexed. Never felt like this for an Apple product.
I like the iPad for what it is. But I'm afraid that my expectations were placed much too high. I was looking forward to more of a Mac-iPhone crossover than what we got. Videos, movies, web-browsing, and the speed capabilities of this device are very attractive. iWork would be nice to have as well, especially if it can be exported to Microsoft Word. Gaming-wise, the only thing I can really see myself playing on this is RTS. Games like Red Conquest! or an upgraded version of Command & Conquer would be cool to play around with here. Overall, it's something I'll have to look into, but certainly I won't be purchasing the device at launch.
I think that Apple is not worried about those productivity people getting an iPad, they'd probably rather you get a MacBook anyway. If you're the type of person that needs all the features of a full blown computer, then you probably won't want an iPad. If you can get by just fine doing everything on your iPhone/touch, then that's fine too. I think Apple is just trying to cater to that certain kind of market, no matter how niche, that just wants this really casual experience. The more I think about it, I can definitely see the appeal of having an iPad. Taking to coffee shops just for reading the internet, just like newspapers and magazines used to do. I think it could be a useful visual aid for teaching, too, running textbooks on it or quizzing programs. Apple is definitely overstating things a big calling it revolutionary, and the most important thing they've ever created or whatever. But I feel like I'm starting to better realize a reason for it's existence, which at first I didn't see. That is the funniest damn thing I've ever seen, favorite'd. The name iPad is just terrible, I wish they would have went with iTablet and for short called it an iTab. Kinda like how the full name is iPod touch, but a lot of people go with saying iTouch and you know what they're talking about. iPad's just plain stupid sounding to me.
The marketing team did a good job. That's all I have to say. iPad, though. Now that was a dumbass move.
No. It will sell a lot and a lot will love it. It is not for business but it is great for a casual tablet. $500 is not a bad price for what it is and I wouldn't mind having one, though I doubt it would ever leav my living room. Really the only thing I ask for is USB slots. If I could print directly I would probably get one for my schoolwork.
I thought it had iWork? I think I saw that somewhere. Can anyone verify? As for games I agree. I could never play anything like nova or nfs but playing things like sword & poker or rogue planet would be very enjoyable.
