saw this on the ipod touch fans website..... Appleinsider claims that Apple are preparing a Tablet Device for release early next year. Artist Render Quote: After four years of meticulous of developmental riddled with setbacks, Apple is now racing toward an early 2010 launch of a device that may see the electronics maker redefine the portable computing market for the second time in twice as many years. The tablet is rumoured to have a 10" screen, 3G data connections. Nothing else has been said about the specs A large iPod Touch anyone? what do you think about this? good idea or a bad idea?
I would love to have one of these. A portable computer that utilizes multiple touch but I would rather Apple release it when it's really ready, rather than bow to market expectations. Not that they have ever conceded... I keep asking myself if I would like to get a MB to carry around and remote back to the iMac. But the iPhone does a great job of loading up websites like this and other basic stuff. I also use it for gaming and reading ebooks. There's alot of potential with this device. The core questions about this tablet device is HOW will one interact with it? Tablet PCs are not new, been around for years, but despite all attempts to make a slate, convertible or anything, the market hasn't welcomed it. Is it usability? How you hold it? How you type? Battery usage? Screen glare? How do you prop it up when watching videos? Do you expect to run Photoshop on it? Will there be special-edition software requirements to run on it? I honestly think that it's not the right time yet to release it, unless Apple has truly thought through the above issues carefully. I hope it has, but it seems that analysts are scraping around for something to justify their stand on AAPL shares, and te next best thing is to predict The Next Big Thing.
It's very possible. The software's easy. Just tweak with it so that it accepts multiple inputs. It's the hardware that's tricky. Plus, it'd be incredibly fragile. Laptops have the clamshell design, tablets have one huge breakable screen. Nevertheless, I'd love on (but not more that Microsoft's huge computer-table, that thing's just awesome, even though it's from the morons that made Vista).
If it has 3G I hope the rumors are not true that it will be verizon and not Att which to me would be a deal breaker. I think they should allow free tether to the Iphone. I hope this is just a big I-touch with added features and will run my apps and can be connected to my TV.
