I am one of those lucky enough to get a game on the App Store from pretty early on. There was definitely a lot to learn and quite a few obstacles to actually getting my game on the App Store, and the worse part was that I had no idea if it would be worth it. Now that I have been collecting sales data on my application for a while I thought I would help other potential iPhone programmers by showing what might seem typical on the App Store. You can see the detailed day-by-day breakdown here: http://blog.fieryferret.com/2008/10/rebound-development-app-store-story.html

I don't know if this is really what can be expected, but hopefully this helps someone out! If nothing else it is somewhat interesting to see what effects a review or an update has on the sales.

Yeah, I'm happy with the sales, I think Scoops is on pace to do better since there is no free version.

what concerns me, is that in the article, you state that you will eventually try advertisements in Lumen to obtain more revenue...but for those of us who already bought it at full price? would we be subjective to the same ads?

I'm pretty sure he meant advertisements FOR Lumen elsewhere, like Google Adsense and the like, not within the game itself, though that wouldn't be a bad idea for free demo versions, I suppose.

on a totally unrelated note, i looked at the game zone gear in your sig, and it looks awesome. I would honestly pay 20 dollars for a game like that in the appstore, too bad its pc only :( Get to work on a port somehow, cuz it looks fun as hell!

Thanks! Zero Gear is close to beta and our deadline for entry into the Independent Game Festival is in 6 days! aaaah! Anyways once we (2 full time people and me part time) get it released and start making some money we hope to look into porting it to other platforms.

I think hes talking about advertising the game OUTSIDE the app, not have adds INSIDE. Ithink....

Yeah, I definitely meant advertisements for Lumen. Sorry for being unclear.
