my wife and i have been using runkeeper pro, and really like the app. the maps feature, audio cues, the way it graphs your run, etc, are awesome. the one place this app falters is in the audio. it only plays pre-made playlists, won't let you skip songs, keeps playing the music if you pause or quit the app, very aggrivating. also if you take a phone call or text, you'd better stop running. the app will auto-pause your run, and won't start it back. so if you slow down to a walk to take a call, when you get off the phone and resume the run, there will be a large gap, you'll have lost all that distance and speed, etc. So, is there anyone here who can recommend an app for running without these problems? the maps and such are great, but i really just want a solid app to keep track of stats and not be so retarded when it comes to music like runkeeper pro does. thanks in advance.
You should checkout Strands. It's awesome. I've been using it along with the main website, and I love it. It's got better an better over time, with the latest iPhone app update giving ability to create/edit/play music playlists for your workout. It uses GPS to track your data and for me this has been flawless and accurate. You can even replay your route and watch it on the inbuilt maps. You can lock the screen while you're running/cycling and sync your workout to the main website. You can also check your weekly/monthly/yearly stats for a specific activity type (running, cycling, hiking etc.). Best of all, it's all free! Recommend you check it out. I've not receieved a phone call while using the app yet, so not sure if it will resolve that issue for you.
