Thanks for this awesome post! Multiple device syncing is in beta testing right now. I don't want to comment too much on your suggestions, other than saying that you've come eerily close to describing some very specific things we are already planning. They are great ideas and you rule for sharing them with us!!
I can't believe people rated this so highly. It's the most extreme grinding game I've seen since Everquest. If you like playing the same stage over and over and over (and over and over) and spending hard-earned in-game currency on weapon upgrades that make no discernible difference, then this is your game. Missiles are useless and attack asteroids instead of enemies, shoot off in a random backwards direction, and aren't fast enough to actually hit an enemy should you be lottery-lucky enough for the missile to actually target an enemy. Weapon upgrades take real world time to upgrade, so you're sitting around waiting for your not-useful upgrade for 20+ minutes... or you can pay to make it end now! Your reward for grinding so much is another stage that requires extreme grinding to unlock the next one, because suddenly the asteroids and the enemies just got a hull upgrade and your weapons don't do anything. There is very little sense of accomplishment in this game, just some numbers going up and your reward is... more numbers! There's a great game in there somewhere, too bad it's so grotesquely "free to play". This is more like an old-school quarter-trap arcade game that does its darndest to pretend to be a game so you'll dump cash into it. Unless you're a F2P lover, be really cautious with this, especially with the high ratings.
I'm going to have to say your not a fan of this game because it takes time to build your ship and your probably not a fan of RPGs . But that's what this game is based around . An Rpg like element. What your hating on is actually what I like about this game. Not just flying through destroying the game in a hour and on to the next game. And as for the missiles , they are hitting asteroids because they are the closest enemy object to you and they deploy backwards and offscreen if their are no enemies for them to track . And actually they are the most powered weapon destroying enemies with one hit most of the time. I understand your frustration because this isn't your type of game and everything that you don't understand is making you dislike it more. It sucks because it's a great game and very well developed. It's possibly my favorite game of the year. I think you might of thought it was just another galactic shooter before you tried it out and had those expectations of another mindless shooter in which your main premise is to dodge bullets while your ship is shooting. Not this one man , it's a very developed game with a lot of content. Hope this helped explain what your going through
Misteri, we had a fairly long beta period to make sure the upgrades and difficulty felt balanced. It might not be perfect, but we tried to land in a spot that was fun for everyone and gives players a chance to get the true feel for the game without paying anything. Of course if you buy the mineral doubler the game will feel better, but you should be able to easily get through some very significant upgrades without it. Our hope was that in this time you could decide whether the game was worth your time or not. As Jayg2015 mentioned, missile homing is weighted based on distance and heading (meaning it's going to try to target things that are directly in its path, as it is going to be more likely to hit them). As it gets upgraded it gets faster velocity, faster turn speeds, and does more damage. If you check out some of Anotherkellydown's video posts (earlier in the thread) you'll see that missiles do in fact hit enemies, and with pretty good results. We have a few additional gameplay modes that we're working on for the game that will give a different experience to playersÂ… Stay tuned, as I think this might be something you'll prefer. Thanks for sharing you're thoughts. We've heard your feedback and will factor it in with everyone else's. As I've mentioned before, we're totally open to making changes and continuing to improve the game.
This game needs few things to be one of the greatest * An endless mode to beat PHOENIX HD * A multiplayer, it would be nice to see because the game seem to work fine with two ships on screen. * More ships, better guns and more clever enemies. They just fly and kamikaze on you instead of tactical aiming and shooting Please developers try to add at least one of them.
Well, after some leveling I'd like to repeat my concern: it would be really handy in rockets goes for current ship target, then after enemies and only then after meteorites. Now it looks like if target for rocket is chosen, then rockets will chase it until destruction. So most of the times I got a situation when rocket start to crush rocks, then enemy arrives, and rockets still crushing the rocks.
These are great ideas! Stay tuned You're right, the rockets don't re-target unless their target disappears/is destroyed. We've heard feedback like yours a quite a bit, so we're looking into improving this. I like your idea of increasing the weight of items in your line of sight. We'll do some testing. EDIT: After a bit of discussion, we're thinking through a system to let you change your targets in the lift/slow-mo menu...
Hi devs! Awesome game! Love Skyforce so this game is right up my alley. # Liking all other suggestions mentioned earlier in this thread. I also have one of my own: maybe you could implement an option to skip the cutscenes once you have seen them? Would be great to get to the action much faster! # Keep up the good work and I will probably buy some more iap. Already bought the mineraldoubler. Ps. Not showing this game to my cat! #
Hey having already purchased the Mineral Doubler I still think that the payout in missions are too little. Difficulty of the game ramps it too ridiculously in my opinion. Makes having to perform extensive upgrades to barely just survive and having special weapons requiring money and spawn very sparodically is quite irritating. The first 3 levels were okay then suddenly it just got all nuts from level 4 onwards. Way to grindy to make much progress. I don't mind paying but I'd prefer buying features like the doubler and ad remover but I hate buying currency as that's never a good deal, including in this game.
I've gotta say, the "grinding" aspect of this game is probably my favorite part. I dunno what it is, but I actually enjoy grinding in a lot of games. I know I started playing this one a little late, but I'm really digging it.
Same here. Something about knowing you're getting more and more powerful just feels so good. Glad you got back into it, NOEN.
Haha! Same here. I'll load it up and can't wait to try the level again with the new upgrade. It's like an addiction. Billy
Thanks for playing, glad you are enjoying it! Which cutscenes are you referring to? Is it the in-game chatter or the loading images? We could skip the continue button once you've played enough times that the tips really don't mean much to you. We don't automatically skip them as we show a tip on that screen that players may want to read. Regarding the grinding, we hear you. I think we can find a way to please everyone with much harder new sectors and maybe slightly softening the older ones.
Ah, sorry I was not clear enough, but yes, i mean the in-game chatter. I think there should be an option to skip that once you have heard it. Kind of boring to hear/see it when you just are grinding levels to get minerals. Hope you will consider it! #
It's really interesting that you bring this up, we had a lot of discussion about this during our beta. We had set them all to be heard only a certain number of times (we learned that from our first game, HexSweep where a lot of people complained about the voice repetition). However, during the Apocalypse Meow beta a lot of people ended up relying on those as cues/landmarks for where they were in the level. So we ended up with a hybrid. Some of them get shown only a few times, and others are always there. Maybe we need to fine tune which are which. Are there any in particular that bother you? We could add an option to hide all the dialog after you've heard it a certain number of times. Our settings screen is growing a little unwieldy What do others think?
Aha! It's just, for me, when I replay a level I dont think I need the intro chatter between the dogs and cats. I would like the the level to just start faster. Maybe an option to skip the intro chatter in every level after one have seen it once. It's no point seeing that a 100 times. # Thank you for responding! Also, are you going to release the game on Android too? I told my brother to check it out but he didn't find it in the Playstore.
Hear you regarding the chatter! We'll change that in the upcoming builds. As for Android...let me just leave this link https://twitter.com/SplitCellGames/status/636696789631025152
