In a way though Gabrien does make sense. IAP in the form of additional content is perfectly fine, but I myself don't like consumable IAP, regardless of the need. The devs put it into the game for a reason. While I won't avoid a game just because of the inclusion of IAP, it does make a buyer a bit wary of getting burned. Just having no consumable IAP seems like a simple solution, but Im not knowledgeable about AppStore sales and revenue so I'm not sure if that would be feasible to make money for the dev, as I've read somewhere that free apps/IAP generate the most profit . Either way, it seems like IAP(intrusive or not needed) is here to stay
Okay, so here's the thing. I hate IAP as much as the next guy. I think it's a total plague upon the app store and its success now means we are starting to see freemium models pop up everywhere -- consoles, PCs, etc. This game isn't freemium or designed to punish players into buying IAP. Here's why: there is only one type of currency in the game and that currency is given you to liberally as you play. True, you can't grind previous levels in your current playthrough to get money, but you can new game+ any time you like. The real devil with freemium are the premium currency types (gems, crystals, etc) that you can only get via IAP or very rare instances and there's a shop full of awesome guns locked behind premium currency prices. That's not the case here. You earn, on average, 2000 coins per mission. The space marine corp pulse rifle (best gun in the app store in the first play through) is only 10k. Quite easy to attain. Lots of people are allergic to buying ammo. It's the biggest consumable scam, especially in shooters. The thing is, you gain a shit ton of ammo in this game as random drops from crates. So between using your knife and being a little more diligent about what you shoot, you won't ever need to worry about ammo. If you really go trigger happy, buying ammo isn't going to break the bank. At the end of the day, this game is very satisfying, very challenging, very polished, and easily the best zombie side-scrolling shooter on the app store (and for me personally, unseating Zombieville).
Is it the same green swamp with the purple backdrop the entire game or is that just the first level? edit: nvm, didnt notice the 9 world portion. looks awesome.
You are entitled to your opinion (and notice that I have not said anything about you being right or wrong). All I'm asking is for some civility in the way they are expressed. Saying that folks are blind or delude is not civil.
Wow. This thread is basically turning into dead trigger. If you have problems with any game having IAP options why not start a thread that list games that do/do not have them. Have an argument in that thread about whatever you want. It'd be nice if this thread was about apocalypse max. Not a random argument that has very little to do with this game. As far as the small bit that does pertain to this game, it seems like everyone who has bought and played the game is telling you the IAP is designed in a very inobtrusive way. If you haven't played the game, and don't intend to, how and why would you argue? As far as the game goes. I would like to see some customizable control options. In specific being able to have a button for knife. I could handle swipe for grenade a lot better. System works well as is, I'd just appreciate the option to switch the grenade button for a knife button.
^Agree about that, would prefer a knife button Also agree about the IAP's, to me this games like Bullet Time, eg it had IAP's but its not 'forced' on you, its more like a 'cheat mode' if you want powerful weapons asap. Been playing this game a lot and havent bought any IAP's, dont need to as i have a lot of coins. Great game for £1.99
Holy crap this game is amazing. It feels like Ghost n Goblins meets Metal Slug with awesome controls. Huaazzzaaaaah!
I know. I dread to think what these people will be like when they buy a $20,000 car or get a mortgage for a house if theyre this undecided over a 3 dollar app !
I don't know what posts you've been reading, but it's not about the price tag, it's about the freemium mechanics which, though pretty non-exploitative, still sully the experience, asking one to jump through hoops for no apparent reason to avoid further payment.
You know, it occurs to me, that the world will forever be split up into people who care about whether somebody slips a hand in their pocket, and those who only care about what remains in their pocket after the hand's been removed. It's a frustrating endeavour for the former to make the latter see their point. They speak two different languages when it comes down to it after all.
I think some people go totally over the top personally. We're talking about cheap apps for a dollar or two. Some have IAP's which dont force you to buy things, yes theres IAP's there and that may simply upset people but i've played a lot of games, i know games which 'force' me to buy lots of IAP's to get by and others which dont. Again some games have IAP's but theyre more like cheat modes for people who might give up on the game but want to quickly get their car/soldier hooked up with the latest gear. If i buy a game and i can hardly get past the first few levels unless i buy an IAP for lots of coins then yeah its frustrating. But MANY games despite having IAP's are harmless, its just a modern way of a 'cheat mode'. In the old days you might have to press a combination of keys to activate a cheat, in iOS its often a 69p or more IAP. But again we're talking about a cheap game, the other problem is in the old days you used to play games non stop to get better at them, nowadays so many people dont want to keep playing, they give up and buy an IAP to complete a game, no stamina some players !
Hmmm. Well no, I would say not. Once I beat it I'll probably reset with all my stuff and play through again, but then back up my save and delete. If any new content is introduced via iap or free, I'll redownload and buy it. It's that good.
The only difficulty in this game is getting by the zombies. It would be nice if the devs added difficulty in getting through construction of the levels, like in mario for DS. Like in the 3rd level in the cemetary and up, those were good. The previous levels should've been made like that. Maybe i'm asking too much for a phone game. Money is a little to easy to acquire, which is weird for an iOS game haha. Good game though, esp for the devs' first.
I think psj has hit the nail on the head with regard to iap in this. It is simply a cheat mode. I personally find it very balanced and see no reason to use iap to upgrade anyway. It would just take the sense of achievement out if it. Not buying the game because it has iap will just mean that you will never again be able any game from the app store I think. Anyway, if you are concerned about iap in this, don't be. It is not forced on you. Psj said it right, it is more of a cheat. The game will be enjoyed by anyone who plays it irrelevant of the iap.
This game does not work on older devices, yet it still installs and the description mentions nothing about incompatibility. Graphics are completely messed up and the keys are irresponsive. No idea why devs do this. Is it that hard to spend a few minutes testing the game on ALL devices once it's completed? They're only hurting themselves because they'll be forced to give refunds + 30% Apple fee on top of that. Yes not many people still use older devices but there are still some, and that's a lot of money.
I agree. The developers have obviously gone out of their way to make things more than playable without it, they have done a really awesome job and I'm a little disappointed with myself for jumping the gun and presuming what resetting your profile did, it is just a New Game +. With all the large productions I've played on iOS, this game really captures the essence of gaming that I've long missed. Top job.
