    Just wondered what IG meant, is that a fail or a pass? I'm thinking it goes MVG, VG, then G as a pass... then IG as fail?

    Are they anything like Norwegian school grades?

    A "fail" doesn't technically exist as a grade, but the lowest you can get is "IG" which means "lacks foundation for a grade", which is similar to a "U" grade in the UK (as "Ungraded").
    Why do you want to know, if you don't mind me asking?

    Ahh right, that makes sense. My girlfriend graduated today, she got 6 MVG's, 12 VG's, 9 G's, and 1 IG... that was math so screw it, phones have calculators :)

    Are you Swedish then? I always assumed you were English just 'cause you've got it as your location... but now I think about it, that doesn't really mean anything about someone's nationality.

    No numerical letter grades? I enjoy being able to quantify, or accurately determine the percentile of, my knowledge.

    Nope, I'm English. I have family in Sweden though and my younger cousin is at school there. Last time I visited them my aunty was telling me about the grades they have there and I remembered "IG" because it's basically the same as a "U" in the UK. It's a beautiful country, but a bit cold for my liking :)

    Well it's higher education, they're often different. I just found it on Wikipedia:

    * MVG - Mycket väl godkänd (passed with distinction)
    * VG - Väl godkänd (passed with merit grade)
    * G - Godkänd (passed)
    * IG - Icke godkänd (not passed)

    Yeah I need to go there at some point. I'm quite fond of the country but for totally biased reasons, girlfriend and also my favourite band are from there :p Somehow it gives me the impression Sweden is awesome.

    Sewden is a beautiful country, as LBG say is just a bit cold :D but it also depends to wich area you will move to, I just moved to Malmö about 8 months ago, and here it suppose to be the warmer place of the all sweden, but still cold and rainy. but the sweds keep on telling me that this is also the worst year since the late 80´s.

    Is it cold now? Sara (the girlfriend) is a bit further north near Västerås, she's been complaining about it being too hot for about 5 weeks now.

    well, as always, it´s all about standards.

    Now it is summer here and temperature trough out the all of Sweden are between 15 C and 20 C maximum, getting a lot colder in the night, I´m from the south of Europe where the summer are usually around 35 C / 40 C, that is why for me is cold probably :D.

    It is also raining a lot in this days, here in malmo we had 3 days of sun and I honestly hope it will get better soon !
