My bad, must have misread something you posted earlier. Well if you ever wanna try something different... Thanks for the other Rolando pic btw.
here are some TA ones. I find the lime green one works well. It looks very bright but the grey bar dims it a lot.
Great idea! I think Arn should post this one on the main page for all TA users to check out That'd be awesome and he could mention all the wallpaper creators. I don't know if he'll really do that, but it'd be awesome if he did.
Okay so here is my feedback, igotta do it quick cause i have little. Battery life remaining. The bia one is a little 2 red but great for an ipod wallpaper. The rolando one i downloaded had bad graphics but great concept, maybe imageshack would help. The tanzen one is very good, very well executed. I loved the hos one even though i dont currently own the game. I think im skipping some. P.s: thanks for taking my fasstlane request, im going to bed now, so you have all the time in the world to work on other stuff. Wallpapers overall are great, awsome and meny other good adjectives i cant think of right now.
Do you wanna help me out with the texturing part? How did you create those cool textures for the BIA one?
That image has been out there for a while now. Thanks for making a specially sized one, anyway. The second one.
Hey nice job! Is that your first wallpaper? It looks great, but I wouldn't mind having the green trimmed off the Rolandos a little more. It is still pretty awesome, better than I could do (especially because I don't know how to use photoshop and I don't have it. ). I like how you added the slider bar too
Yea. I'll try to get more green off of it. I have to use multiple programs, including GIMP, Paint.net, and Paint to get these right. Gimp is really complicated, so I may get GIMP for Dummies or something to help, so I have to start with GIMP to open the PSD, and save it out, and then use paint to paste the pictures together, then take Paint.net and finish it. That is one of my first. I just started yesterday, so I'm relatively new. I may have to get Photoshop. But I'll see what I can do about the green, and maybe have a few different colors for the background. Can anyone who uses GIMP explain how everything works? It confuses me, and is Photoshop any better?
Yeah, I've tried to use GIMP several times and I give up every time. It's very complicated... Even for a Final Cut user I think PhotoShop would be easier, but I think it costs money or you can get a trial version or something.
I'm certainly no expert. But basically what I do, is open the image, select "Layers" from the "Dialog" menu (my GIMP is in Dutch, so I'm not sure if I translated those correctly). I believe you can also press Ctrl + L. You can then select the layer you want to work on (just select it by clicking on it, you can make it (in)visible by clicking the eye icon in the Layer window). You need to realize that all the options for that specific image (color tweaking, brighten, darken, etc.) are in the menu bar of that specific image window. You should be able to figure out what the buttons on the 'main' window do. But yes, there are some things that are weird or take getting used to. If you want to select multiple pixels (overlapping selections), you press Shift while clicking the new regions/pixels you want to add. If you press Ctrl while clicking regions, they are substracted. I also have trouble moving selections sometimes. Often I end up simply creating a new image, pasting my selection as a new layer in there (I create a new, transparent layer and paste it on there), and then simply remove the original selection. Then, when I paste it from the other image, I can move it to where I want it to be. That's really all I know, I don't do a lot with colors, for the wallpaper I made I only cut pieces of screenshots I made and paste them on a gradient background layer.
Gimp is very powerful, but an interface nightmare. You can download a 30 day trial of Photoshop at adobe.com. Not that Photoshop is easy to use for beginners, but it's miles ahead of Gimp in the interface department.
Man, i have never heard of gimp, and to me ms paint sucks, so i always go with photoshop. Its a hundred bucks or so, but the things you can do with it are amazing, so the price is easily justified. Whoops, i just checked, the newest version (CS 4) is actually 700 bucks. I have CS3 which is awesome and is only 170-180
Photoshop Elements has many of the same features as CS 4, for under $100. It's probably good enough for basic editing tasks, unless you need to work with more advanced features, like channels, etc.
I may have to get Elements, as this is most of what I'll use it for, and I could probably trick some of my friends into paying for personalized wallpapers. GIMP looks and feels powerful, but is too confusing, so I have to take the PSD and save it out as an image, and manually edit it. Elements looks like the way to go, for me anyway.
okay, here is a special surprise for you 20 members still here on TA tonite. Here is a glimpse of my unfinished fieldrunners wallpaper. I want you all to post suggestions on what should be done to it, and whichever ones you and i agree on, i will do.
