Hey, i'm wondering if anybody knows any good techno/dance kinda music. Stuff preferably like Daft Punk. So if you know any please help me out! lol.
Hmm I'll have to check that second one out. I do have David Guetta stuff, Definitely good stuff. Thanks!
Not my genre, but I suggest going to metacritic.com and doing an advanced music search. Click on the "dance/electronic" box, and limit your results to scores above 80 or 85, etc. Then browse those results and sample anything that looks promising using the iTunes store. I've actually found a lot of good music that way. Another site to check out is rateyourmusic.com - which is all based on user reviews. It's a little trickier to search, though. Sorry if this is kind of a non-answer, but I personally enjoy spending time browsing music like this. Anyhow, good luck.
DJ tiesto is pretty damn popular and he has a free hour long podcast every week. At one point I had like 50 of them on my phone for when I do mindless work.
Depends how far reaching your tastes for electronic are... these aren't so much dance / techno (well, immi is sort of dance), but here are some that do it for me. Delphic - new lot, from my area (Manchester!). hehe, i either listen to trance/techno/dance or american 20's 30's and 40's music while I paint abstractions in my studio.
Techno, dance, house, etc. are really for three things only, IMHO: 1. Night clubs (sadly, the NYC club scene is pretty much DEAD...used to be about dancing/partying/having fun...now it's about posing and VIP tables...you don't need no goddamn tables in a night club, IMHO) 2. Driving (seriously...put some more bass on it and just ride....) 3. Strip clubs. 'nuff said.
Christ, maybe in the 90's but the sound has evolved a lot since then (well, not with techno and dance) and as such is just as commonplace on a persons portable player than any other style of song. However, it has been a bit annoying how some recent outbreaks have basically resorted to copying 80's synth with a retro outlook rather than taking the best from that era (which was lost in the 90's) and pushing it forward, like Delphic has with what was established by New Order.
