I've only had Gameloft's Platinum Solitaire for a few days now, but I've been playing it a lot, and in that time, I'm pretty sure I've noticed something, that if true, is not a good thing.

It would seem that each time you start a new game or shuffle the deck, you do NOT get a completely randomly generated card layout, but that there in fact a limited, pre-set number of card configurations, one of which the game will pick at random when you play a game.

Without having taken screenshots of every single game I have played, I am so far unable to determine this as fact, but I have a very deep suspicion that this is the case.

I've just emailed the developers about this this morning and will wait to see if I get a reply.

Has anyone else here downloaded this game, and do you have similar suspicions?

Absolutely! It's really starting to annoy me - I've been playing the game every day since it became available, and over the last 3 days started noticing that I was getting the same layouts over and over again. It's now to the point where EVERY time I start it up, it gives me the EXACT same layout. Obviously it's a bug, but it really stinks considering I paid $10 for it - I wrote a review on iTunes, so hopefully it will get the attention of the developers.

Most of the application pages in iTunes' App Store have links to the homepage for the maker of the program as well as to their support page. Looks like support@gameloft.com is the email address for Gameloft's support. You could contact them directly about what you are experiencing with Platinum Software.

BTW, I often use these links to see demo videos of the software before making a purchase, since you usually get more information than what appears in iTunes. Of course, I also get some great reviews here at Touch Arcade. : )

I think it is only $8, and is now being listed as $5.

I am not sure going to gameloft support will help since only Apple is distributing the game. You might have to use Apple support. That is just a guess though.

I didn't think there was anything random anyway with video games. I thought they all used Random Generator lists. They used to but perhaps this has changed. If it is happening every game than that is likely a bug.

random number generaters without any outside input will generate the same nubmers.... but normally apps would seed the random number generater with the time or some collection of pseudorandom input so you wouldn't get the same boards again.

so I think it is prob a bug.
