I just want to know so that I can know I'm not the only one left (partially kidding) But I honestly would like to chat with other members here about my favorite band.
wow weird thread! i was just listening to Gorillaz while I was cooking dinner tonight! havn't listened to there album in years.
I actually really enjoy the gorillaz. I originally shrugged them off as just another commercial studio band, but they have really proven me wrong with legitimately original and refreshing music. Props to them.
Clint Eastwood. I've never heard of Feel Good Inc... probably should check em out edit, meant to quote bluellama..
I like 'em. I wouldn't really call myself a fan cause I don't exactly rave about them, but I have the two albums and the two remix albums. Their songs totally suck on Rock Band though... does not translate well.
I personally don't consider people who only like Feel Good Inc. or Clint Eastwood to not be true fans. Just my, and quite a few others, opinions. That's enough qualification, they're my favorite band though. I think you meant b side albums and studio albums, they only have a remix album for the first one. There's two main reasons why I made this thread: 1. They're, as I stated above, my favorite band but nobody at my school listens to them. 2. They're making a third album called Plastic Beach which has three demos already released.
Yeah that's what I meant, you can tell how much I've listened to them It's mainly just the studio albums I stick on occasionally. That's good news about the 3rd one, I thought they'd decided there weren't gonna be any more?
No, they just take 5 year long hiatus' What is your favorite song? Mine is O Green World (Demon Days, track 4)
Yeah I like O Green World too, and 19-2000... I don't know many of the song names but overall I prefer Demon Days to the first album.
*names song names from top of head* rehash, 5/4, 19 - 2000, 12D3, demon days, o green world, left hand Suzuki method, 911, dub dumb, feel good Inc, all alone, people, Clint Eastwood, rock the house, DARE, dirty Harry, Latin Simone (que pasa quontigo), Latin Simone, ummm... Intro... Last living souls... Tomorrow comes today... Can't think of anymore! Most of the first albums' names were so obscure!
I like them, but I'm more of a fan of Miho Hatori, Del, and Dan the Automator, so I am kind of indifferent to Demon Days. It's alright, and some songs are quite good, I mean, Dennis Hopper's on it, it can't be all bad, right? I find myself listening to G Sides a lot recently, "Faust" (see: I heart Miho), and the version of Latin Simone I can understand are both great songs (the Latin Simone on the album is also good too). And the Phi Life Cypher (that's their name, right?) version of Clint Eastwood is good as well, though I still like Del a ton more. On that note, if you like Gorillaz, especially their first CD, you might try listening to some other stuff that Dan the Automator has put his grimy hands on. Handsome Boy Modelling School (work with Prince Paul and a ton of guests, including the likes of Del, RZA, De La Soul, Father Guido Sarducci, and many more!), Deltron 3030 (bitchin' sci-fi alter-personality of Del), and perhaps even Dr. Octagon (Kool Keith at his freakiest and deakiest, though somewhat of an acquired taste). Deltron 3030 is, to the best of my knowledge, is the first place Damon Albarn, Del, and Automator all worked together, leading partly to the work on the Gorillaz first album. Also, if you happen to just like Albarn's voice, The Good, the Bad, and the Queen is decent. And of course, there's Blur.
I've come to the conclusion that he indeed tends to work magic when he collaborates with other people, with enough sense to actually combine ideas and create something awesome instead of just, like, inviting people on his albums just for a guest credit (See: Nearly every hip hop album ever made). It takes stones to let someone come in on your idea and exert quite a bit of influence, look at the difference between "Gorillaz" and "Demon Days", its not just Albarn telling people what to do, it's a collaborate effort, and that's what I think is great about Gorillaz.
Everything on that album is hella cool, 3030 is one of the best songs I've ever heard. It's like 2112 but way cooler.
