I really don't read too many books, but do read some newspapers like the Los Angeles Downtown News, the local university newspaper, the LA Weekly, and sometimes misc other free newspapers. Anyone read newspapers?
Right now I'm reading " The Jewel Tree of Tibet" by Robert Thurman I love reading..I find it calms and centres the mind. Focus becomes sharper...so so important to have that living in these short attention span times
Nah, I am talking about old school real paper newspapers like we havein the old days, though the newest generation rarely uses them anymore cause of the internet. Anyone here actually have a paid newspaper service that comes to their door, or is it extinct already?
Yay, a fellow Robin Hobb fan. I've read The Farseer Trilogy 3 or 4 times, I never get bored of that story. Robin Hobb is only author so far who has moved me to tears.
Read the Farseer and Tawny man Trilogies earlier this year really good books I did enjoy them and flew through them quite quickly, I think I'm definitely going to try and tackle her other trilogies at some point but at the minute I'm reading the Belgariad/Malloreon books by David Eddings after that I think I'll go for Liveship Traders.
I bet you'll like the Liveship trilogy if you liked the others. Chronologically it's between the two that you already read. There's very little overlap as far as I can remember (it's been a while though), so I don't think reading out of order will matter. I remember the Belgeriad/Malloreon books being an OK way to pass some time, but nothing to write home about.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Hunter S. Thompson Choke - Chuck Palahniuk The Jungle - Upton Sinclair Cannery Row - John Steinbeck Froggy Bakes a Cake - Jonathan London
Wool, great book. Free sample available from Amazon for those interested, one of the more interesting books I've read for a long time. I should have checked the first page before posting
Yes, I'm an insatiable reader! I read at least 4 newspapers a day. Read a lot about news, politics, finance, science, health, men's mags, fishing, electronics, gadgets, and psychology. I read LOTS of magazines and do a lot of Sudoku and crosswords, too. I don't read fiction at all.
Inferno. I can basically tell that this was written by Dan Brown without even looking at the author name or main character's name. His writing style is so familiar to me now after reading Angels & Demons, Da Vinci Code and Lost Symbol. Suspenseful/dramatic, but in a slightly childish way. Obsession with Italian architecture. Always have a pretty lady as his sidekick, etc.
If you looking for a series you can't beat the AubreyMaturin series. It's pretty heavy at first but I promise if you stick with it you'll be addicted.
Any audiobook people here? I use audible.com and I'm looking for some book recommendations in the 10-20 hour range.
