I don't like the graphic style of JRPGs. Undercroft is really great. The Quest is also quite good, although the graphics are a bit below Undercroft but the game is huge. Be sure to start with the first game. I started with HoL I and found it too difficult, then I played the Quest proper and had a great time. Rimmelands is very good but with very little exploration.

  10. Qualifies as one for me.

definitely grab Undercroft right now. I paid for it months back and beat it twice, and it is definitely worth the free price of admission right now.

The Quest Gold is great - same style as Undercroft, only it isn't a team based RPG, and there is more emphasis on exploration and questing. Undercroft is more linear by comparison.

Doom2 RPG and Wolfenstein RPG are also fun games in this style of RPG as well.

I would LOVE to get Doom or Wolfenstein, but all of the negative iTunes reviews have turned me away from buying them. So many complaints about glitches and control issues. :(

I can't say about Wolf RPG, but I've been playing through Doom II RPG and have experienced a few crashes, but no control issues. It's fun, but fairly linear so far...

EDIT: I should mention that all of my Doom II RPG crashes have been when traveling from one station to the next, the game does autosave at this point, and simply re-launching the app and choosing "resume" brings me right back to where I should have been.

    I would advise:
    • Puzzle Quest (special RPG but good fights and many good RPG features)
    • Rimmelands (Worth mainly for its fights quality an originality and a fairly good class system and items system)
    • Undercroft (Best exploration quality, good classes, only fairly good fights but still quite better than many iRPG)
    • Doom 2 RPG (Dungeon Crawling Turn Based with a lot of story contents, a good surprise)
    • Underworlds (particularly the iPad version, a fairly good Diablo clone pleasant to play)

I think he meant Underworlds not Undergrounds.

they aren't as buggy as everyone makes out - I never experienced a single crash and I beat both games all the way through. However I did experience some graphical tearing in WolfRPG - nothing game breaking though.

Between the two I preferred Wolfenstein RPG, but Doom2 RPG was awesome (but felt shorter).

The controls on both are excellent in my opinion.

Let me add myself to the "go for Undercroft" list. Yep, it's free and it's a fantastic RPG - - in the style of old school 3D dungeon exploration (i.e., Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder and even Wizardy).

If you are going to get Puzzle Quest, wait for Puzzle Quest 2 to come out this fall. It has a lot more depth and is better balanced.

Definitely pick up undercroft while It's free.

The Quest is fantastic even though the graphics are weak it is the biggest most open experience yet.
Rimelands is a great rpg with good character customization, graphics and turn-based gameplay.
Wolfenstein rpg over doom 2 for me, though both are great.
