Oh, hey, you can post stories on DeviantArt? Huh. I'll probably dust off the old and really nice SLR camera my parents never use and drive around the city taking pics when I get my license. It'll give me a legitimate reason to use Pixelmator and maybe pick up a copy of Photoshop later on. And continue with my guitar lessons... and none of these have a decent chance at earning me any cash in the near future.
I draw really well by hand or digitally, am used to drawing in many styles. I really like drawing portraits and realistic stuff like anatomy.
Yeah, this. I think it'll be interesting. As for myself, I do a lot of pencil drawings. Not professionally, I'm not nearly good enough for that, but it's a good hobby to have. I usually do a lot of 'anime' or at least 'Japanese-inspired' drawings (yeah, I'm one of those) and also semi-realism (well, just a fancy term for 'video game CG'). Some examples (sorry about the size, but I don't know how to make them smaller ): An original character I've been designing. Obviously I'm not very close to finishing it, but the ideas are there. I've developed a habit of jotting ideas onto my drawings. /shrug More realistic stuff:
Yeah most people who attempt anime-styled drawings are totally lame but you've got quite a talent there.
Thanks guys. Does anyone have any work to put up? People talked themselves up quite a bit, and I kinda feel like a dick if I'm the only one with work put up.
Alright, alright. This promotion for a local printer ended up being covered by FPO, a website that showcases print design. I didn't do the illustrations but I came up with the concept, art directed it, and did all the design and production work. Here's a link to a brochure I designed for the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston for an exhibition of Shepard Fairey's work. (BTW, I also designed the website for the ICA.) Finally, here's a link to the Amazon page of the Spider-Man novel I co-wrote (yes, it took to people to write a Spider-Man novel) over a decade ago.
Oh, a legit novel. I thought maybe a graphic novel or something, but no pictures... I feel like that defeats the point, José.
That's one point of view. Frankly, I don't wholly disagree with it. It's still a decent novel -- more of a police procedural than a superhero story. The biggest pain in the butt was keeping track of the continuity of the comic. I actually wrote a professionally published comic book, but it's too embarrassing to link to here.
I draw a little bit, also decent on like illustrator and such. Dont have any great work to post up, unless you guys want like a school project
I'll make you a deal: Post me a picture of something that isn't/once was living (I can't get down movement), and I'll draw it. I've got some drawings and a few paintings, but I can't scan them because they're too big, so this'll be in lew of that. And if anyone wants to read my 16 page stories/ essays, feel free to do so! I won $1,000 on two of them (One story, other health care essay).
Kinda forgot this thread existed, fail. So prepare for a mega-quoty-post. Nice, though I'm not versed at all in the literary arts, more so in the visual. The book seems well done, very professional. What does 'art directing' consist of, though? Do you just tell people what to do, or are you directly invovled in its creation? The Spiderman novel looks good too, but admittedly I've never seen a comic novel before. Eh, it's kinda refreshing for me when I see other fellow traditional artists, 90% of the ones I see are all digital. I'm attempting to get into digital myself, though. I'm pretty much the opposite, I only draw humans, realistic or not. I don't really know anything non-living that seems interesting though...maybe a sword of some sort? I dunno.
