Does level 3 reveal the entire game? I'm worried that by level 3 we've seen all there is to the game. Sure, there will be different boards and such, but is that the extent of the skill tree and units? Lovely game for the few hours I spent with it last night, but if I've seen all there is, it's not going to get a ton more play from me. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong... I'd really like to be wrong.
Hi Tim, thanks for the game. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on TA's comments on the lack of an undo button and inability to view replay of the opponent's turn? I absolutely understand you can't undo in a fog of war instance, but can't you have a situational undo button for other actions? In addition, what are you thoughts around making it universal? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I bought the iphone version and when I went to download a second copy on my ipad it asked me to pay again. Thanks.
It's a Universal app - no need to download twice. It sounds like perhaps you're not signed into the same iTunes account on the 2nd device? Re: situational undo -- this is the sort of thing that's simply a bear to explain to new/casual players ("here's a button that's only occasionally available!"), and any implementation I've considered would be pretty inelegant. There are very few situations where taking an action doesn't reveal hidden information. Off the top of my head, it's just attacking, placing a thug, and buying an upgrade that would be safe to undo. (Entering an already-scouted building, which doesn't reveal fog-of-war, still tells you whether you opponent put a trap in there.) Even these actions *could* become unsafe in the future, based on new map or unit mechanics. I don't have any definite plans to have side-effects triggered by one of these actions, but I don't want to limit the design space either. So: I won't say "definitely no", but there'd have to be a lot of demand to justify it, I think. The game's compromise here is that you confirm every action you take, either by double-tapping or by tapping and then clicking the "do it" button. Re: view your opponent's turn: yeah, this is a bit awkward now. You can always back out of a game and re-enter it, at which point you'll see a (skippable) replay of your opponent's actions, as well as any moves you've made in your unsubmitted turn. I'd like to add a UI that lets you review the whole game. It's on the list! No specific timeline yet though.
Does it mean that you plan a future update where we can play in a several player maps? I would like to play in bigger maps with 4 different ai players or so. BTW I am having an absolute blast with this game. Thank you.
Thanks! There are no definite plans for 3-player or 4-player maps, but it's been requested a bunch of times and is something I'd like to do. It's contingent on whether the game sells enough to justify a big additional chunk of development. I'm hopeful!
I doubt I'll play multi and have no regrets. Movie theater movies costs $15 for a 2 hour movie. This was $4 and I've already put in a lot more than 2 hours into it. Wish all iOS games had this level of fit & finish.
Hi Tim, awesome creation! This game is dramatically different than traditional board game, perhaps call it boardRPG. Lol... One request, can we have iCloud synch because Im playing on several devices: mini, iPad Pro, and X and would love to continue the Skirmish game. By the way, Skirmish mode is fun playing the different scenarios! Keep up the good work!
Yes please, this 100 times. I dont care as much about iPhone X support as I do about iCloud support, kinda used to playing 95% of my games in the letterboxed format, but playing on the go would be so much more convenient with cloud saves :O
I'm not sure how true it is but looking up Steam reviews, some of the negative complaints were that the game doesn't have much content if you're not interested in Multiplayer (which I'm not). They also said it often comes down to just gathering resources as fast as you can before your opponent does and they thought it wasn't much strategy. I'm not sure if they didn't play enough or this is true?
Yes, I'm going to start looking into this now. (iPhone X support is basically ready to go. I don't anticipate iCloud support being too much work!)
Thanks for being awesome! Keep up the good work Having released a utility app myself, I know what its like to fiiiinally get it out in the open, think thats it for the moment, and then you end up feeling compelled to spend the next couple of weeks satisfying the naggers
Loving the game - thanks so much for porting to iOS I just had to watch Gangs of New York again while playing to get a hit of Danell Day Lewis after watching the gang character killing people and saying Suuuuure! ...... awesome. (being a Londoner I love all the other quotes too )
I love it so far The color and art direction feels really smoky Victorian The voice acting is excellent, so is the music, its not too intrusive like some games. Same with the sound effects - the little pops etc are pleasant, and the tweening motion is enough to be engaging but not enough to make me seasick The nasty characters each have a great design and feel like separate characters with their own flavor What i like best is how you take simple elements and infuse them with so much flavor. Ive been a fan of thieves guilds ever since Advanced Dungeons and Dragons and Fafhrd and Gray Mouser, and this game goes a long way towards capturing this feeling.
