I don't know. Brushes does pretty well especially after one of their users created a cover for the New Yorker. According to that article they sell 60 to 70 a day. http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/27/new-yorker-iphone-cover-boosts-sales-for-brushes-app/ The old iClay sold enough to pay for my coffee habit every month. Which was more than my other apps did so I took that as a sign that people liked this kind of thing. I suppose we'll see how the new version does. -Greg
Well looks like iClay 2.0 is selling worse than the original version. I don't think people like my blob landscape I made to demo it. And I think the old smiley face I had up on the original may have showed it's constructive potential better. And then I'm not sure if I should've listed all of the current flaws on the google groups. I was trying to incite some feedback, but I think I may have done myself in as far as self promotion. <Sigh> But I'm not giving up on it yet! I've got some ideas on how to make the sculpt tools better. So please don't delete it and be on the lookout for more updates. Thanks everyone. -Greg
I'm happy to hear that you're not giving up on iClay. I was interested in buying it and waited for the demo video which did in fact convince me not to buy it. I just couldn't find anything useful or artistic to do with it and I'm pretty open artistically. Apps such as Artisan and Spawn Illuminati are good examples of being able to manipulate a background into something that could be used for wallpaper. I was hoping that iClay would be something of that nature. Please keep us posted on your progress with iClay. Thanks!
This app is pretty fun! My only suggestions are some more sculpting tools and a save feature. The save feature would be really important... But yeah, thanks for making this awesome app! It's fun to use in car drives when I have spare time.
saintsalive, I'm glad you like the app! Sculpting tools and a save feature are on the top of my list of things to add. marlenedegrood, I know. I can't make anything but volcanoes with it. But I think the potential is there for more. I'll keep you posted. Thx! -Greg
greg, sorry it took me so long to get back to you.. feel free to use any of these images if you think it will help your sales. , , rozzie
my main suggestion is to add back the hide display option. shaking the device worked fine for me. after spending a good amount of time i can assure you, there is nothing at all wrong with the app, and it is in fact my fave art app, even over brushes and layers. i'd love to be able to save my work, and be able to view it from all angles . i would then have some incentive to continue trying to produce more ambitious works, and not just small ones, like the redhead above. rozzie
This app looks really nice. I think I'll get it, though I'm not an artist by any means. Maybe you can have a website where iclay artists can share their work if they wish... EDIT: just got it... that rotate feature is really nice...
Hi Rozzie, I love your readhead! Thanks so much! I'll use all of them in the app store. I've added fullscreen to the queue of things to do. Currently I've got these updates coming: * Better sliders. * Saving and loading. * Fullscreen mode. I have a google groups for iClay: http://groups.google.com/group/iclay Is that enough, or do you think something different would be better? -Greg
